German operagoers will not be seeing that scene or, indeed, any scene from one of Mozart’s most powerful works. For fear of Muslim anger, the bosses of the world-renowned Deutsche Oper in Berlin have cancelled performances of Mozart’s Idomeneo. The decision has unleashed a storm of disapproval from politicians and writers, who claim that Germany has fatally compromised the freedom of expression.
Wolfgang Schäuble, the German Interior Minister who is due to open a conference today on Islam and German society, said that the decision to cancel the opera was insane, laughable and unacceptable. Western governments MUST start acting in unison, they MUST start being prepared and willing to stand by our values. As you say, "the show must go on" would be the only correct attitude. And governments throughout Europe and throughout the rest of the free world must be prepared to act, and deal with the possible fallout.
If we let this nonsense go on, it will mean that we are being Islamized in a creeping manner. Creeps are unprepared to make a stand, and Islam is creeping in! The result: the Islamization of the Christian West!
This is grist to the mill of the far right. And, as you say, that civil war is drawing ever closer. What then will happen to all those multiculti laws banning this expression and that?

Mark and quisabelle - Bowdlerising of works of Shakespeare, children's books, and now opera, to make them appropriate for Islam has been going on for some time. Characters have been dropped or suffered name changes, protagonists have been made into "heroes of Islam", and tinkering with the story line makes it seem that the author is writing about Islamic virtues.
Shakespeare's plays have suffered role reversal: the bad guy is Christian rather than the Muslim.
Some of these bowderlizations have occurred in the United States:
plays off Broadway have been altered in the same way or cancelled. Libraries have been required to remove anti-Muslim material or to add favorable material, and there is not enough room here to give justice in a comment about what is happening to universities, school systems, and publishing houses.
Why are we doing this to ourselves in order to please a tiny minority? Muslims comprise only 1.5% of the U.S. population. I know that the population of Muslims and Britain and Europe are greater, but surely there aren't enough of them to warrant the remarkable and drastic changes!!!!
