How much is that doggie in the window?
THE JERUSALEM POST: Saudi Arabia's religious police, normally tasked with chiding women to cover themselves and ensuring men attend mosque prayers, are turning to a new target: cats and dogs.

Instead of this dabbling in issues of Islamic purity, it would be wonderful if these people would do something to advance their culture. You know, stuff like science, art, literature, pursuit of peace. It is unbelievable that so many can spend so much time splitting theological hairs and do nothing useful or creative or decent.

That Saudi Arabia would ban companion animals is no surprise. They can't get next to the concept of companionship with animals as they even ban companionship with other human beings.

Rather all emotional attachment must be with Allah and energy expended for the goals of Islam.

Yes, Eleanor. Isn't it ridiculous! Perhaps if they started loving pets, they might start having a little more compassion for other human beings, regardless of their faith!
