The government cannot alone root out extremism in Muslim communities and defeat the terrorism it creates, Prime Minister Tony Blair has said.Mark Alexander
He hit back at claims ministers had done little to win Muslim "hearts and minds" since the 7 July London bombs.
He said he was "probably not the person to go into the Muslim community".
It was down to moderate Muslims to stand up to extremism and tell those with "grievances" against the West they were wrong, Mr Blair told MPs. Muslims 'must root out extremism'

What any good leader should do is exactly that: go into the Muslim community and read them the 'Riot Act'!

Isn't that one of the most ridiculous things you've ever heard?!

Hot, noxious air, ready for ignition! :-)
mussolini,
I am astounded that you have identified 4 moderate Muslims. It is virtually impossible to believe that there are more than 2. When has anyone seen or heard of a so-called "moderate Muslim" come forth to stand for anything decent? If anyone knows of ONE such incident, please let us know immediately.
Let's be honest, "moderate Muslims" are the fabrication of weak and ineffectual politicians who routinely pander for votes and don't have a clue as to how to get us out of the mess they got us into.
Alas, Tony is such a pathetic soul; he doesn't come up to the top of the heel on Sir Winston's shoe. He is a pathetic excuse for a human being, to say nothing of how pathetic he is as the leader of a great nation. I am quite amazed that he has admitted that he is so weak and cowardly and impotent and incompetent. Certainly we all knew it was true, but now he has confessed it from his own lips.
