The controversial Somali-born Dutch MP Ayaan Hirsi Ali is under pressure to quit parliament amid revelations that she falsified her asylum application.

Dutch media say she will move to Washington to work for the conservative American Enterprise Institute.

A TV documentary about her, shown last week, triggered calls for her to be stripped of her Dutch passport.

Ms Hirsi Ali, a fierce critic of conservative Islam, is under 24-hour police protection.

She has received death threats since the murder of film-maker Theo van Gogh, who was stabbed by a radical Islamist, Mohammed Bouyeri, in November 2004.

She wrote the script for Van Gogh's TV film Submission, which angered many Muslims.

Ms Hirsi Ali did not deny that she had lied in her 1992 asylum application, her spokeswoman Ingrid Pouw told the BBC News website. Dutch MP lashed by asylum storm

Dhimmis come to no good! It doesn't matter whether they're in Holland, or elsewhere. They'll give it all away.

Mark, after reading this story on Hirsi Ali I'm thinking Europe may not save itself and may not want to save itself from Islam.

There may not be enough people with the courage to stand up to the Islamic threat. There has to be a tipping point or critical mass of public support for things to change.

Hirsi Ali speaks the truth and many don't want to hear it. Looks like the beginning of the end for her in Holland. Funny thing as she is the best thing to happen to Holland in the last few years - and what are they going to do? - send her packing.

Whether she leaves voluntarily or forcibly and goes to America, what message will this send to Islamists in Holland? Another victory. Things will be getting very unpleasant in The Netherlands very soon.

You might well be right. What a thought!

I certainly believe that. You know, we must all realize one important thing about the Europeans. With few exceptions, they are not the bravest of people anymore. I can think of many wonderful adjectives to describe Europeans, but 'brave' is not one of them.

The Europeans of today don't like wars, and don't like to stand up and be counted. Ironically, however, Europe has been the seat of so many wars. Look at the First and Second World Wars! They were largely fought in Europe.

I think the legacy of Hitler still has a great impact on the psyche of the Europeans. He casts a long shadow, so to speak. So much so that they no longer wish to fight to preserve their heritage and civilization. Now that's tragic!

Yes, she speaks the truth, but that truth is uncomfortable for them. If they accept what she says as true, then they will be forced into the uncomfortable position of having to do something about it. And the Europeans don't want that.

Whether she leaves voluntarily or forcibly and goes to America, what message will this send to Islamists in Holland? Another victory. Things will be getting very unpleasant in The Netherlands very soon.

Oh, yes! It will be grist to the Muslims' mill!

Bld:

Europe is deep under the anaetheatists slumber, breathing the ether deeply, having quaffed the laudonum.

In the dreams of the patient, the different charachters go about their set, whispering confusion into the ears of the slumberer.

Will the dreamer dream on?

Hush! If we awaken him to soon, will he open his eyes to see the crescent moon has risen in the East?

Don't you mean the West?
