"How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries! Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy. The effects are apparent in many countries. Improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce, and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the Prophet rule or live. A degraded sensualism deprives this life of its grace and refinement; the next of its dignity and sanctity. The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property‹either as a child, a wife, or a concubine‹must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men. Individual Moslems may show splendid qualities. Thousands become the brave and loyal soldiers of the Queen; all know how to die; but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it. No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith. It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising fearless warriors at every step; and were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the strong arms of science‹the science against which it had vainly struggled‹the civilisation of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilisation of ancient Rome." Thank you for sharing this wonderfully insightful quote from Sir Winston. Indeed, he "got it." Oh to have politicians of such forthrightness, insight, courage and wisdom today instead of the miserable, cowardly, and stupid hacks we are stuck with. (If there is an exception to this characterization of our politicians anywhere in the West, I would be delighted to hear about him or her.)
If there's an exception, I'd like to know, too.
As a matter of fact, I'd like to know if there is an exception in the mainstream media. I'm not home in the day, but I wonder. Does anyone know if there is a conservative radio talk-show host who faces the reality of Islam?
Furthermore, he would probably be fired for expressing his opinions!
A well known talk-show host could still express skepticism by asking rhetorical questions and letting his guests make the definitive statements. If he’s as big as Rush, he won’t have to worry about being fired. I’ve never listened to Rush or other radio personalities but there is no reason why he couldn’t introduce the topic. There will be threats but they already get threats.
Michael Graham, in Washington, D.C., was not as well known as some of the others. But if the big guys decide this is an issue that needs to be discussed, it will change the whole culture. They really only have to say things like “I have a problem with …” or “Can an oppressive political ruler from the 7th century be a moral model for today?” or “How does on square …” or even “Has Islam changed since the 7th century?” “Can it?”
I think that’s why Spencer’s first book “Islam Unveiled” was such a hit. The subtitle was “Disturbing Questions ….”
Jason, Well said! The only way the "big guys" will decide that it is OK will be if they make more money than they are making now by their current PC stance. As ususl, it's all about money....
