Does Cameron have what it takes? Does he display the Churchillian characteristics we need at this dangerous time?

I don't know what this poor wretch has been smoking; it certainly is not tobacco. To speak this guy's name in the same breath as Sir Winston Churchill is an affront to one of the greatest statesmen of all time. Cameron is a pathetic lightweight.

Mark -Although they mean well, all our politicians in the West continue to be clueless about Islam.

Where will we get a better batch? Did all of the good and competent politicos die out with Churchill and FDR who were no angels? Today's politicians combine moral lapses with ignorance and stupidity -- a disastrous combination.

No, USIP, he doesn't quite cut the mustard, does he?

Eleanor:

Thanks for the excellent link to Sixth Column. As you say, they are "clueless about Islam".

I'm beginning to wonder whether we ever will get "a better bunch". As you say: "all the good and competent politicos died out with Churchill and FDR"!

Ignorance and stupidity do indeed make a disastrous combination. Notice what Cameron said about Islam! It's one of the great religions of the world, and Muslims make a "fantastic contribution to or country [the United Kingdom]". Please note!

No problems, Eleanor.

eleanor, I read your comment with interest. I don't understand the "although they mean well" as there is absolutely NO EVIDENCE that indeed they do mean well. Rather, every indicator suggests that they are groveling for votes. Alas decent, able, honest people don't run for office anymore; we just get the dregs, like this poor pandering fool.

I listened to Cameron's "keynote" conference wind-up speech with all the pleasurable anticipation of someone who enjoys watching really bad movies.

I was not disappointed!

Churchill must be rotating in his tomb...
