The USA has long since ceased being the ‘Land of the Free’. This is just another nail in the coffin of liberty. If this ridiculous law is passed, you can bet your bottom dollar that it won’t be long before the stupid idea will be taken up the other side of the Pond. – © Mark

Firms Should Make Workplaces ‘Gay Friendly’

THE DAILY TELEGRAPH: A raft of new schemes will be aimed at promoting equality for homosexuals, such as recruiting more openly gay candidates to become MPs and making workplaces “gay-friendly”.

The Coalition's Equailty Strategy said many lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGB&T) people still faced discrimination and even violence.

“Attitudes are changing,” the strategy said. “But the sad reality remains that too many people are victims of discrimination and hate crime in the UK today.”

Christians Face Discrimination in Workplace, Say Church Leaders

Almost two thirds of the Church of England General Synod believe Christians are the victims of discrimination in the workplace.

A survey of members of the Church's parliament found that 63 per cent of them felt that Christians faced discrimination at work.

The majority also consider that freedom of belief has been eroded under the Labour government.

While 59 per cent agreed that they have seen a decline in religious liberty over the last decade; 38 per cent of members disagreed.

The findings follow a series of high profile legal battles fought by Christians who claim to have suffered as a result of their beliefs. >>> By Jonathan Wynne-Jones, Religious Affairs Correspondent | Saturday, February 14, 2009
