Women under the Third Reich I Episode 1: Indoctrination I Pure WW2

Nov 5, 2026 | When Hitler came to power in 1933, Nazi Germany began reshaping the lives of young women through organizations such as the League of German Girls, the BDM. Girls were taught obedience, racial ideology, physical discipline, and a vision of womanhood centered on motherhood and service to the regime. Yet the outbreak of war in 1939 would dramatically expand the roles women were expected to play.

As millions of men were sent to the front, women entered factories, farms, hospitals, and administrative positions across the Reich. Thousands were also sent into occupied Eastern Europe as secretaries, nurses, teachers, and wives of SS personnel. Some became witnesses to Nazi persecution and mass murder, while others actively participated in occupation, exploitation, and the machinery of genocide.

Title: Women under Hitler's flag
Director: Christiane Ratiney
Production: ARTE France – Hauteville Productions (2022)

NB: BDM stood for Bund Deutscher Mädel, or League of German Girls. This was the female branch of the Hitler Youth movement. It was established in 1930 and was eventually made compulsory for all eligible “Aryan” girls between the ages of 10 and 18 by the late 1930s. [Source: Google AI]

WARNING: This documentary is unsuitable for people of a sensitive nature. In parts, it could be described as being very upsetting; and for minors, it is TOTALLY insuitable. Some of the details in this documentary are hair-raising and stomach-churning! Naturally, it is also disgusting. — Mark Alexander
