Michael Lambert: Why the UK Economy Will Collapse without Immigrants
Aug 30, 2025 | The UK economy is not doing well. The much-needed growth is not happening and the national debt is almost 100% of GDP whilst interest amounts to £116 billion per annum or over £2 billion per week. We know that taxes will have to rise in the forthcoming budget.
The UK has an ageing population who are living longer and costing more in terms of care and medical treatment. To maintain our current population level we need a birth rate of 2.1 children per woman whereas the current rate is just 1.4. This means that the proportion of the population who are earning is diminishing and so is taxable income. This can only be solved by immigration.
However, Nigel Farage the man who brought us the disastrous Brexit, and his party, Reform UK have been pursuing a very public anti-immigration campaign. At the same time, the government under Keir Starmer have made it almost impossible for anyone to come to the UK to work unless they first secure employment at a rate of at least £37,000 per annum.
Without a larger workforce expanding the tax-take for the government, it is difficult to see how the UK will survive financially.
For the time being, Farage leads an ever-growing anti-immigration policy which both Starmer and the Conservatives have decided to follow.
At the start of this video, I discuss last week's cabinet meeting in the White House which was little more than an event to boost the ego of Donald Trump who ranted about how good he is for 45 minutes before being praised by most of his Secretaries of State. Steve Witkoff, who features in this video, was exceptionally embarrassing in lavishing praise upon the president.

Trump Revokes Legal Status of 530,000 Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans and Venezuelans
THE GUARDIAN: Move takes effect on 24 April as president weighs also stripping parole status from some 240,000 Ukrainians in US
The Department of Homeland Security said on Friday that it would revoke the temporary legal status of more than 530,000 Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans and Venezuelans welcomed into the US under a Biden-era sponsorship process, according to a notice posted to the Federal Register and signed by the homeland security chief Kristi Noem.
The order cuts short a two-year “parole” program – known as CHNV – under Joe Biden that allowed 532,000 people who had arrived in the US since October 2022 with financial sponsors to obtain two-year work permits to live and work in the US. Noem’s notice said they will lose their legal status on 24 April. » | Diana Ramirez-Simon and agencies | Friday, March 21, 2025

Michael Lambert: Failing Home Secretary Finds a New Minority to Victimise
Another great and truthful video. It’s all very depressing stuff, though. But how could it be otherwise? This is all largely self-inflicted pain. Pain brought about by xenophobes, Europhobes, zealots, pig-headed people on the far right and ideologues. The rest of us are having to pay a very high price for their determination to drag this country out of the greatest, most successful single market in the world, the Single Market.
The result of all this has been for the UK to lose power and influence in the world. Further, that our living standards are now in terminal decline is going to be a constant source of embarrassment to us all. Of course, the bigots that brought this dreadful state of affairs upon us are sitting pretty. They are all not only very rich but are also being paid a king’s ransom for screwing up the country.
Before us are difficult times. We can look forward to little comfort or cheer. And to think that before that ridiculous Brexit, this country’s economy was doing pretty well. Clearly the ne’er-do-wells at the top had not heard of the old saying, ‘If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.’ – © Mark Alexander

Germany: 'We Are Importing Religious Conflict,' Says Prominent Sociologist
DEUTSCHE WELLE: German sociologist H.G. Soeffner makes the case for a quick integration of immigrants in Germany. If the opportunity is missed, serious cultural conflicts may arise. Social cohesion does not occur on a cultural level.
Hans Georg Soeffner: Yes, on one hand, it does worry me because we did actually have a chance of handling the number. But the German states and the German federal government are lagging far behind when it comes to addressing this matter. We've known that the large influx of refugees would come and that the numbers would increase. I am exasperated over the slow pace of the German government's activities.
People should be aware of the fact that the Federal Republic of Germany was the country that had the greatest number of immigrants in 1945 - more than former colonial states, like France and Great Britain. Germany was the most diverse country at the time and it had to deal with a large influx of refugees, mass exodus, masses of immigrants and to add to it all, the first wave of so-called guest workers. Until 2000, 23 million people came to Germany from other countries. At the same time, 17 million emigrated. We're constantly reshuffling and things had been going relatively well until now. But at the moment, I am under the impression that no one really knows how much planning is involved. » | Kersten Knip / gro | Sunday, 30. August 2015

Benefits 'To Be Stripped from Immigrants Who Cannot Speak English'
THE SUNDAY TELEGRAPH: David Cameron intends to make the cuts in order to slash the country’s welfare bill, according to reports
Benefits will be stripped from immigrants who cannot speak English, it has been reported.
David Cameron intends to make the cuts in order to slash the country’s welfare bill, according to the Mail on Sunday.
The Prime Minister reportedly wants to stop printing welfare literature in foreign languages and prevent claimants using taxpayer-funded translators at benefits offices.
According to the newspaper the measures, which were due to be announced on Monday, have been delayed following a row with Nick Clegg, the Deputy Prime Minister.
It is hoped the scrapping of foreign-language documentation explaining how to claim benefits will make it harder for immigrants to make use of the UK’s benefits system, while encouraging those already in the country to learn English. The measures would also save the money spent on translators. » | James Edgar | Sunday, January 19, 2014

THE DAILY TELEGRAPH: Up to a quarter of households in parts of London have no one who speaks English as their main language, according to figures contained in the census.
In a string of boroughs across the capital, between 20 and 25 per cent of all families do not have anyone who regularly speaks the language and in thousands of others only children do so.
Findings released by the Office for National Statistics earlier this week showed a transformation in the make-up of British society over the last decade, with the number of foreign-born residents rising by 50 per cent.
In London itself less than half the population described themselves as white in the national headcount conducted last year.
Headline figures showed that there are around a million households in which no one speaks English as a “main language” – just over four per cent of the total.
But a detailed breakdown of the figures published with alongside the main census data show that in some areas the proportion is more than five times this level. » | John Bingham, Social Affairs Editor | Wednesday, December 12, 2012
