Europe Must Push Families to Have Children and Not Take Migrants, Says Hungarian PM

EXPRESS: EUROPE has been warned that it "cannot build its future on immigration instead of families" as the Hungarian prime minister once again urged against taking in unprecedented numbers of migrants.

Viktor Orban waded into the crisis as he spoke of the dangers Europe could face if it tries to solve its demographic and economic problems by taking in large swathes of refugees.

Addressing crowds at a conference in Budapest this week, the outspoken leader said the continent must instead push families to have more children because "the survival of our civilisation and our culture is at stake". » | Levi Winchester | Friday, November 6, 2015

Outcry in America as Pregnant Women Who Lose Babies Face Murder Charges

THE GUARDIAN: Women's rights campaigners see the creeping criminalisation of pregnant women as a new front in the culture wars over abortion

Rennie Gibbs is accused of murder, but the crime she is alleged to have committed does not sound like an ordinary killing. Yet she faces life in prison in Mississippi over the death of her unborn child.

Gibbs became pregnant aged 15, but lost the baby in December 2006 in a stillbirth when she was 36 weeks into the pregnancy. When prosecutors discovered that she had a cocaine habit – though there is no evidence that drug abuse had anything to do with the baby's death – they charged her with the "depraved-heart murder" of her child, which carries a mandatory life sentence.

Gibbs is the first woman in Mississippi to be charged with murder relating to the loss of her unborn baby. But her case is by no means isolated. Across the US more and more prosecutions are being brought that seek to turn pregnant women into criminals.

"Women are being stripped of their constitutional personhood and subjected to truly cruel laws," said Lynn Paltrow of the campaign National Advocates for Pregnant Women (NAPW). "It's turning pregnant women into a different class of person and removing them of their rights." » | Ed Pilkington in New York | Friday, June 24, 2011

My comment:

Americans are losing the plot! This development is totally ridiculous, and will lead to women refusing to have babies for fear of being incarcerated. The West is already short of babies. This sinister development will exacerbate the problem.

Having a baby should be the joyous result of the expression of love between a couple. The threat of a protracted jail term looming over a pregnant woman will destroy the love and turn it into fear. Another ridiculous idea from America! – © Mark

Anglican Idiocy Down Under! Thou Shalt Not Breed: Anglicans

THE SYDNEY MORNING HERALD: THE Anglican Church wants Australians to have fewer children and has urged the federal government to scrap the baby bonus and cut immigration.

Wading into the population debate, the General Synod of the Anglican Church has warned that current rates of population growth are unsustainable and potentially out of step with church doctrine - including the eighth commandment, ''Thou shall not steal''.

In a significant intervention, the Anglican Public Affairs Commission has warned concerned Christians that remaining silent ''is little different from supporting further overpopulation and ecological degradation''.

''Out of care for the whole of creation, particularly the poorest of humanity and the life forms who cannot speak for themselves … it is not responsible to stand by and remain silent,'' a discussion paper by the commission warns.

''Unless we take account of the needs of future life on Earth, there is a case that we break the eighth commandment - 'Thou shall not steal'.'' >>> Josh Gordon | Sunday, May 09, 2010

Go Home Early and Multiply, Japanese Told

THE GUARDIAN: Japan's workers are being urged to switch off their laptops, go home early and use what little energy they have left on procreation, in an attempt to avert demographic disaster.

The drive to persuade employers that their staff would be better off at home than staying late at the office comes amid warnings from health experts that many couples are simply too tired to have sex.

A survey of married couples under 50 found that more than a third had not had sex in the previous month. Many couples said they didn't have the energy. A study by Durex found that the average couple has sex 45 times a year, less than half the global average of 103 times. >>> Justin McCurry in Tokyo | November 29, 2008
