Radio host Michael Savage, real name Michael Weiner, was among 16 people "named and shamed" on a Home Office list of undesirables.

He has since said he will sue for defamation and has now written to the US Secretary of State over the matter.

The letter, sent from the Thomas More Law Centre on his behalf, "demands" that Mrs Clinton tells the UK Government to rescind the "arbitrary and capricious" ban.

Mr Savage's name figured on a list which also included former Ku Klux Klan grand wizard Stephen Donald Black, Hamas MP Unis Al-Astal,

Jewish extremist Mike Guzovsky and American anti-gay Baptist pastor Fred Waldron Phelps.

The Home Office described Mr Savage as a "controversial daily radio host considered to be engaging in unacceptable behaviour by seeking to provoke others to serious criminal acts and fostering hatred which might lead to intercommunity violence".

His inclusion on the list of those banned from entry prompted Mr Savage to describe Jacqui Smith, the Home Secretary, as a "lunatic". >>> Agencies | Thursday, May 14, 2009

Geert Wilders' Freedom Party Rises to 32 seats

RADIO NETHERLANDS WORLDWIDE: The Freedom Party of populist right-wing leader Geert Wilders has climbed again in the polls, this time to a record of 32 seats in the 150-seat parliament. The Freedom Party is in first place and is now four seats ahead of the Christian Democrats, the largest of the three parties in the governing coalition. Pollster Maurice de Hond attributes the rise in popularity to his departure from a parliamentary debate on Thursday. He walked out of the debate in a huff, describing the debate on the economic crisis as "a sham".

His ratings began to soar in February, when the British government refused to allow him to enter the country. Sixty percent of voters who describe themselves as right-wing say they will vote for Wilders' Freedom Party. [Source: RNW] | Sunday, March 29, 2009

Wilders Appeals against UK Ban

RADIO NETHERLANDS WORLDWIDE: Freedom Party leader Geert Wilders has launched an official appeal against the British government's decision to ban him from entering the United Kingdom. Last month, Britain's Home Office refused the MP entry on the grounds that his opinions about Islam made him a threat to public security.

Mr Wilders had been invited to screen his film Fitna at the House of Lords by Lord Pearson of Britain's Independence Party. Upon arrival at London's Heathrow airport, the far-right MP was denied entry to the UK and sent back to the Netherlands. Mr Wilders has appealed to the Asylum and Immigration Tribunal to reverse the decision. He will be notified of the date for the hearing in 28 days time. [Source: RNW] | Saturday, March 21, 2009
