Everyone entering ATAA Jewellers in Glasgow must reveal their faces under planned new rules to protect staff from further attacks.

The store owners decided to act after two Asian men wearing traditional Muslim women's clothes – including niqab veils – made away with thousands of pounds worth of jewellery earlier this month.

The pair, who were also carrying handbags, pretended to be interested in buying some items but attacked staff with pepper spray when cabinets were unlocked.

Now the Sadiq family who run the shop are planning to put up a sign informing customers that they cannot wear any headgear that covers the face. >>> By Matthew Moore | Tuesday, April 28, 2009

Glasgow Bomb Plot: NHS Doctor Found Guilty of Terror Attack on Airport

THE TELEGRAPH: An NHS doctor has been found guilty of launching car bomb attacks on Glasgow airport and a London nightclub as part of a nationwide terrorist campaign.

Bilal Abdulla was the passenger in a burning Jeep driven into Glasgow airport on June 30 last year in an attempted suicide attack.

The driver of the Jeep, Kafeel Ahmed, a PhD student from India, died a month later from the burns he suffered in the attack.

The pair had earlier tried to blow up two Mercedes cars packed with gas canisters and petrol cans that they had left outside the Tiger Tiger nightclub in London's West End.

Woolwich Crown Court court heard the men also had two other cars in reserve and were probably planning a campaign of terrorist "spectaculars." >>> By Duncan Gardham, Security Correspondent | December 16, 2008

THE TELEGRAPH: A four-wheel drive vehicle has crashed into Glasgow Airport's terminal building and burst into flames.

Reports said witnesses saw a car attempting to drive into the airport through the main doors. After it crashed its occupants were seen fighting with police inside the terminal.

TV footage showed flames and huge plumes of black smoke rising from a vehicle in front of the building. Police have arrested and detained two men.

The airport has been evacuated and all flights are suspended. BAA, which manages the airport, was not immediately available to comment. Blazing car crashes into Glasgow airport (more)
