The Last Hong Kong Governor: Chris Patten on 20 Years after the Handover

Chris Patten, Hong Kong’s last governor, handed the former colony back to China on 1 July 1997 to be ruled with a degree of autonomy under a system called “one country, two systems”

The world is full of unnecessary suffering and deaths. Let us at least try to understand each other better and minimise the suffering and tragic deaths. One death is one death too many! Essayons au moins de mieux nous comprendre et de minimiser les souffrances et les morts tragiques. Un décès est un décès de trop ! Ne pouvons-nous pas faire mieux que cela ? – © Mark Alexander
