'Tony Blair? For God's Dake!' | Trump's Gaza Peace Plan Attacked

Sep 30, 2025 | Donald Trump's peace plan has been labelled a "great disappointment" for failing to address a number of issues including Palestinian self-determination or the Israeli occupation of Palestinian land.

Mustafa Barghouti from the Palestinian National Initiative said the agreement was "full of mines" including the role of Sir Tony Blair, who he said was not trusted in the region following his involvement in the Iraq War when he was the British prime minister.

Trump’s Gaza Ceasefire Plan, the Beautiful Lie of Peace & Ugly Reality of Occupation: Marwan Bishara

Sep 30, 2025 | Marwan Bishara, Al Jazeera’s senior political analyst, argued that Trump’s Gaza peace plan is simply a continuation of decades of failed, US-backed deals that always favour Israel at the expense of Palestinians.

He said Hamas has been cornered since 2024, with the war on Gaza waged in genocidal terms, now rebranded as diplomacy.

Bishara described Netanyahu as a “pathological liar” and a political survivor who, like his predecessors, manipulates agreements to Israel’s advantage.

He stressed the need for historical context, recalling how past peace processes only entrenched occupation, settlement expansion, and Palestinian marginalisation.

Bishara warned that while Gaza might get a temporary respite, nothing fundamental will change because Israel can always rely on unconditional US support.

He concluded that despite appearances of change, the cycle of occupation, settlement, and violence will persist, leaving Palestinians trapped in the same struggle.

Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu Agree Gaza Peace Plan | BBC News

Sep 30, 2025 | Hamas is reviewing a Gaza peace plan announced by US President Donald Trump in the White House on Monday.

The 20-point plan includes an end to fighting, the return of Israeli hostages and an international "Board of Peace" to help run Gaza, which would include former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair.

Trump - who announced the plan alongside Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu - says if Hamas doesn't accept, he gives Israel "full backing to do what you would have to do".

Meanwhile, Israel continues its offensive in Gaza, saying its air force hit 160 targets across the Strip on Monday.

Trump’s Peace Plan Will Not Solve the War in Gaza

Sep 30, 2025 | “This isn't going to resolve the war… And I suspect the war will continue and Israel will continue to pursue its objective.”

Donald Trump's 21-point peace plan for Gaza is a “step forward” to resolve the conflict, but Binyamin Netanyahu's “long term” goal of eliminating Hamas will still continue, says The Wall Street Journal’s Gerry Baker.

Thousands Call to Arrest Netanyahu, March at U.N. against Gaza Genocide

Sep 29, 2025 | Democracy Now! was on the streets as thousands marched to the United Nations in New York City Friday while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the General Assembly. Despite the fact that Netanyahu is wanted by the International Criminal Court for war crimes he has presided over in Gaza, he was able to travel to the U.N. without incident, as the United States says it does not recognize the jurisdiction of the ICC. We spoke to protesters demanding Netanyahu's arrest and an end to Israel's genocide in Gaza.

Netanyahu’s UN Israel–Nazi Germany Comparison Will Haunt Him: Marwan Bishara

Sep 27, 2025 | Al Jazeera’s senior political analyst Marwan Bishara says Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s latest UN address was likely to have been received “badly” globally, and probably even “alienated” Western allies.

“There is a total rejection of Netanyahu’s tone,” Bishara said. He argued that Netanyahu’s confrontational approach undermined allies who had recently recognised Palestinian statehood after “30 years of failed peace process”.

Bishara described the Israeli leader’s rhetoric as outdated and repetitive, adding that Netanyahu was “recycling old sound bites” that were not working out anymore.

“They fall flat … and the only people who would clap for him are his minions,” he said. “I think he got the wrong stack today. This is a speech that you give to Congress, not a speech you give to the United Nations, where people know what Israel’s crimes are.”

Spanish PM Pedro Sánchez Says Israel Is ‘Exterminating a Defenceless People’

THE GUARDIAN: Spain announces raft of measures designed to increase pressure on Benjamin Netanyahu to end Gaza war

Spain’s prime minister, Pedro Sánchez, has stepped up his scathing criticism of Israel’s actions in Gaza, accusing Benjamin Netanyahu’s government of “exterminating a defenceless people” by bombing hospitals and “killing innocent boys and girls with hunger”.

Speaking on Monday morning to announce a raft of measures designed to increase the pressure on Netanyahu to stop the military campaign, Sánchez said that while the Spanish government would always support Israel’s right to exist and to defend itself, it felt compelled to try to “stop a massacre”.

“Protecting your country and your society is one thing, but bombing hospitals and killing innocent boys and girls with hunger is another thing entirely,” he said.

“What Prime Minister Netanyahu presented in October 2023 as a military operation in response to the horrific terrorist attacks has ended up becoming a new wave of illegal occupations and an unjustifiable attack against the Palestinian civilian population – an attack that the UN special rapporteur and the majority of experts already describe as a genocide.”

The Spanish prime minister pointed to the numbers of dead, injured, displaced and malnourished. “That isn’t defending yourself; that’s not even attacking,” he said. “It’s exterminating a defenceless people. It’s breaking all the rules of humanitarian law.” » | Sam Jones in Madrid | Monday, September 8, 2025

Thank God for a European leader with sound principles and with the courage to speak out against what is happening to these beleaguered and besieged people. Kudos! It is unfathomable how the world can look on while innocent people are being starved to death and killed. And this from a people who should know better. — © Mark Alexander

Is Netanyahu Set on the Full Occupation of Gaza?

Aug 5, 2025 | “The die has been cast. We’re going for the full conquest of the Gaza Strip – and defeating Hamas." That was the quote from the Israeli Prime Minister's office given to media last night in Jerusalem.

Despite mounting criticism of the plan, including from former military officials, politicians and the families of the hostages still in Hamas captivity, Benjamin Netanyahu appears determined to occupy the entirety of Gaza.

Why is he ignoring the pleas, both domestically and internationally, not to escalate the conflict? Would it help or hinder his efforts to free the hostages and eliminate Hamas? And what would it mean for the dire humanitarian situation in the Strip, where famine has taken hold?

Netanyahu Nominates Trump for Nobel Peace Prize at White House Meeting

THE GUARDIAN: US leader upbeat on Gaza ceasefire prospects but does not share any additional details on preparations

Benjamin Netanyahu told Donald Trump that he would nominate him for the Nobel peace prize on Monday, as the two leaders met for the first time since the US launched strikes on Iran’s nuclear program as part of a short-lived war between Israel and Iran.

Trump was expected to press Netanyahu to agree to a ceasefire in Israel’s 21-month-old war against Hamas in Gaza amid an outcry over the humanitarian cost of an offensive that has led to nearly 60,000 deaths, most of them Palestinian. » | Andrew Roth in Washington | Tuesday, July 8, 2025

US Bombs Iran Nuclear Sites and Tehran Warns of 'Everlasting Consequences' | BBC News

Jun 22, 2025 | The United States has bombed three major nuclear sites in Iran, bring the country directly into the Israel-Iran conflict.

President Donald Trump says the strikes "totally obliterated" Iran's nuclear enrichment facilities and told Tehran to "make peace" or face "far greater" attacks in future.

In response Iran's foreign minister warned of "everlasting consequences" to the "outrageous" strikes.

The UN's nuclear watchdog says no increase in radiation levels has been detected.

The UK was not involved in the US strikes but was told about them in advance, the BBC understands.
