MPs Reject Assisted Dying Bill

THE TELEGRAPH: Legislation defeated by majority of 16 after support drained away since last year’s Commons vote

Assisted dying will not become legal in England and Wales after MPs voted to reject the legislation.

The House of Commons voted down the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill by a majority of 16 when it returned to Parliament on Friday.

The Private Member’s Bill, tabled by Lauren Edwards, a Labour backbencher, would have allowed adults with less than six months to live to seek medical assistance to end their lives. » | Genevieve Holl-Allen Political Correspondent.
