Reuters footage from Porto Germeno shows firefighters battling fast-moving flames as thick smoke engulfs forests and roadside vegetation. Emergency responders described the conditions as "extremely hard", with wind gusts making the fire's direction unpredictable. Residents also spoke of losing olive groves and seeing neighbouring homes destroyed.
More than 300 firefighters, dozens of fire engines, aircraft and heavy machinery have been deployed as authorities continue efforts to contain the blazes.
