July 7, 2026 | Donald Trump has used America's 250th anniversary milestone to falsely portray the Democratic Party as a movement of communism. At the same time, Democratic leaders have responded with an alternative narrative that presents the nation's diversity, immigration and democratic dissent as expressions of America's founding ideals. The contrasting messages illustrate how the country's semi-quincentennial has evolved beyond a historical celebration into a symbolic struggle over national identity.

America needs more socialism, not less! And I speak as a man who has never voted even once for socialism in my entire life. But what America has now is socialism for the élite but raw capitalism for the working poor. This needs to be reversed. The only American I can think of that would do this is Bernie Sanders.
