THE TELEGRAPH: Pete Hegseth has fired America’s most senior Army officer one month into the war with Iran.
The dismissal is the latest in a succession of senior individuals being axed by the US defence secretary amid claims they had clashed over his vision for the military.
Gen Randy George, the US army chief of staff, was asked to retire immediately, CBS News reported.
A US department of defence source told the channel Mr Hegseth wanted to install someone who was trusted to realise Donald Trump’s vision for the army. » | Natasha Leake. Jörg Luyken.
