The leaders of Germany, France, Spain, Poland and the Netherlands were among those who posted social media messages backing Ukraine - with Zelenskyy responding directly to each one to thank them for their support.
It comes after extraordinary scenes in the Oval Office on Friday as US President Trump clashed with Zelensky, who told him he was “gambling” with World War Three.
President Zelenskyy left the White House early following his row with President Trump - but afterwards thanked the US president on social media for his support, saying: "Ukraine needs just and lasting peace, and we are working exactly for that."
This ugly, unseemly set-to was a blessing in disguise! It spared the beleaguered Volodymyr Zelenskyy the humiliation of having to sign that ridiculous rare earth minerals deal with the mercenary, mafia-esque Donald Trump, who could well have designs on making a killing from this one-sided, humiliating deal – a deal which would have stiffed Zelenskyy and the Ukrainian people to the likely benefit of the Trumps. Haven’t the poor Ukrainians sacrificed enough for the West already? And since when do American presidents link the security of the West with real estate-like deals? How naff Trump is! How unprincipled! How mercenary! How low!
It is to be hoped that Zelenskyy will never be tempted back to the Oval Office to sign his country’s fortunes away. Zelenskyy need to breathe a sigh of relief that this time. Lady Luck has besprinkled Zelenskyy with her golden fairy dust, bringing him and his long-suffering people good fortune! The hero of Ukraine and the West has had a lucky escape!
