Pope Francis Comes Out Swinging against Trump on Day One of His 2nd Term

Jan 21, 2025 | As he has done many times in the past, Pope Francis came out firmly against Donald Trump’s mass deportation plans, referring to them as a “disgrace.” The Pope issued his statement on Sunday, the day before Trump’s inauguration, and this isn’t the first time that the Pope has spoken out about Trump’s xenophobia. He issued similar statements during Trump’s first term in office, calling him out over deportations and the border wall. Ring of Fire’s Farron Cousins explains what happened.
