Letter to the Editor: Comparing Islam to Christianity

CLARION LEDGER – OPINION – LETTER: When is some part of our major media, in both broadcast and print, going to ask some serious questions concerning the virtues/values and doctrine of Islam compared to Christianity?

Why is it a virtue for American Christians to show tolerance for the ideals of the Muslims living in America, but the almost total absence of tolerance for Christians in the Islamic nations is not even considered as what should be a reciprocal virtue.

Why is the issue not raised about the difference in the actions of Muslims versus Christians when there is a disagreement over their religion. Christians do not riot, burn flags or commit other acts of violence when we are mistreated or forbidden to pursue our religion, where on the other hand, any perceived slight toward Islam is reason for all types of mayhem.

Why is it not explored by our media that one of the tenets of Islam is that non-Muslims are infidels and worthy of death, whereas the tenets of Christianity encourage tolerance, understanding and peace. Continue reading the letter » | Jim Harper | Thursday, October 04, 2012
