It was a disgrace that two men entitled to freedom of speech, spoke the truth, were tried for it, and set free by their peers.
The most ominous thing was that Gordon Brown now wants to move the goal posts even further uphill, in the name of what exactly?
I don't like race hate laws and I don't particularly like the BNP.
But I wonder if the BBC could be held to account under these same laws.
They detest western civilization; they openly hate American and British values, and are generally self-loathing.
They are in fact racist against their own race and culture.
Is this a crime under the act?
I have just added two more links about this story. One of them is about Gordon Brown talking about tightening up the race-hate laws.

The problem is this: Are we "entitled" to free speech any longer? It seems to me that one has to be careful all the time now. Muslims coming into this country have changed things forever. And I say Muslims because it is Muslims who are the hypersensitive ones, not the Hindus or Buddhists. Jews have lived here for centuries and one doesn't even 'feel' their existence. Yet Muslims come here for a few short years and they turn everything upside down!

Yes, he does; and I have added a link about it from The Telegraph.
Why is Brown thinking of doing this? Because he obviously doesn't like the BNP, and he obviously wishes to conrol people still further. But then, isn't that what socialists do? How many laws has Blair introduced to the statute books since he became PM? I think it's an unprecedented number of something like 3,000!

I feel the same as you do. But please tell me this: How are we ever to hope of combatting the threat of the Islamization of the West with such laws in place? They instill fear into the people to speak the truth. Although I am no particular fan of the BNP, I must say that Nick Griffin is about the only politician willing to speak the truth about Muslims' designs. Even if he hasn't a hope of ever getting into power, he can give the mainstream parties a run for their money and force issues which they are unwilling to deal with.
As for the BBC being held to account, I think not. The BBC seem to enjoy immunity from prosecution on such matters. Unfortunately, here in the United Kingdom many, many people still believe anything and everthing the BBC ever says. It's pathetic!
John:
Liberals never see the hypocrisy. They are all for respecting everyone's opinion as long as it is not critical of Muslims. Why are Muslims to be excused when they are the ones causing so much grief in the world? Everything Muslims stand for - brutal punishment, hate of the other, restrictions on society in all sorts of ways, death to those who change their religion - just a sample of overt beliefs of Muslim and despised traits by the liberals EXCEPT for the Muslims. It's crazy.
I couldn't agree with you more. But for some inexplicable reason, Muslims are always let off the hook.
I would suggest that society needs to be freed up, not restricted even more, to be able to talk openly and honestly about the threat Muslims pose.
Mark - Freedom of speech is under attack in the United States as well.
We don't have race-hate laws. Instead loud-mouth Muslim groups such as CAIR, the Council on American Islamic Relations, puts pressue on those in a leadership position to condemn or repudiate anyone that makes an unflattering comment or has a divergent point of view. Some cave in, either as panderers or out of fear of being labeled. It's an outrage.
Surely you know that American and other authors are being sued under British libel laws, "libel tourism," because they the plaintiff will get a better deal even though the information cited is the truth.
Recently author Dr. Rachel Ehrenfeld is being sued by Saudi billionaire Khalid bin Mahfouz who has been successful in forcing apologies and settlements out of various authors who could not afford to go forward defending a lawsuit against deep-pocketed petro-billionaires. Futhermore, some American jurists can't decide whether or not to stand up for the First Amendment out of fear that American courts will become the next destination for protection from such lawsuits.
It's an outrage. Our rights are being eroded because foolishly allowed our home countries to become infested by this nest of vipers.
So we see the true face of Gordon Brown's future policies, should he ever survive his NU Labba cronies stabbing him in the back.
Not content with the expression of a British jury's unanimous decision to aquit these members of a legal political party, he is following in the footsteps of despotic regimes around the world, that masquerade human rights but tighten the noose of the law until there is no room for dissent.
Why don't you go off to China, Gordon, you could teach the Communists there, some old tricks from the Labour Party. And maybe you will come back with some new ones as well.
The Labour Party is now the party of true facism. They have so cleverly hidden their true nature mantle by lying and deceit. They have lulled the populace into complacent ignorance and now want to ringfence the last of our true freedoms, the freedom to speak as we choose.
I ask again, who was it that killed over 50 people in London in despicable acts of terror? Was it members of the bnp? No?
Did members of that party stand in full view of the Worlds media just months after that outrage, and wave banners declaring that they want to usurp Democratic politics and impose religious facism on an unwilling public? Did they wave banners calling for people to be killed in the process?
No, Gordon?
So just one of that large group was brought to trial, although they all called for the same hatefilled acts of destruction.
May you be culled by your own party, Gordon, and consigned to the dustbin of history by your exposure as a fraud, who has malignantly encouraged the sale of our national assets, our major companies and industry. And when you are exposed for the illusiory "success" of our economy, (that has been created on the back of slave labour in far off Continents, you shameles pseudo- Marxist,)I hope you do not get the chance to rest easy on your fat-cat Government pension.
Gordon, you ARE a moron, the one and true original. Get out of British politics and head back to Scotland to torment your fellows there. They would soon get rid of you.
