Immigration no solution
'We recognise the positive contributions immigration makes to the country and the economy," the Prime Minister's official spokesman said last week. "If we don't have migration, we don't have the growth from the economy that we all benefit from."

He was responding to some concerns about the rate of immigration raised by Frank Field, the Labour MP for Birkenhead - but Downing Street's claim that "if we don't have immigration, we won't have economic growth" has been stated over and over again since Labour took office in 1997.

If you repeat something often enough, you can perhaps make people believe it. What you cannot do is turn it from being false into being true. And the Government's claim about the economic benefits of immigration is false. As an academic economist, I have examined many serious studies that have analysed the economic effects of immigration.

There is no evidence from any of them that large-scale immigration generates large-scale economic benefits for the existing population as a whole. On the contrary, all the research suggests that the benefits are either close to zero, or negative. Never have we seen immigration on this scale: we just can't cope by Robert Rowthorn

Immigration does provide benefits of growth provided the old implied social contract was maintained. There are plenty of Indian Hindus and Christians who make solid contributions to the UK each and every day.

The question is why do we let people who are advocates for a genocidal way of life and notorious failure reinvent the wheel. The current immigration mess
is exactly what happens when Marxists are allowed in or near government.

The other question is why should we allow any non vocational immigration in this day and age. I would allow genuine assylum cases for example Christians fleeing Muslim persecution but all other immigration should be based upon vocation.

Mark - The United States is experiencing the same kind of problem... between ten and twenty million immigrants have flooded in, most of which are loose on the countryside--we have no idea who they are, where they are located, or why they have come. If tomorrows election in Mexico turns the country Left, we can only expect more...

The sad thing is that special interest groups have created this monster...they prefer to keep the borders open --- they have sold us out for access to cheap labor and the politicians have done the same in order to create new voters ---and certain religious groups, Christian and Muslim, have found it in their best interest to swell their ranks for political and financial clout. It's a big mess!

Most American citizens are angry, yet our complaints seem to either fall on deaf ears or are not sufficiently motivating to cause lawmakers to take the needed action to stop the flow and deal effectively with the many millions.

Well, exactly! Why do we? It would seem to me that it all goes back to the money people at the top are making from the Muslim Middle East. They are making so much money that they don't want to rock the boat by doing something about it. They would prefer for our civilization to be brought down instead!

Excellent point very well made. I concur.

Yes, I know; and I have to say that I am AMAZED that the Americans stand for this 'rape' of their country. Further, the fact that the authorities don't know who they are or where they are is a SCANDAL in this day and age.

With computer technology as it is today, it wouldn't take a rocket scientist to devise a scheme of keeping tabs on these people. My goodness, if one makes a purchase over the telephone or book a hotel room, the person you speak to the other side can tell you all manner of things about you, simply from your zip code, or postcode. If businesses can do this, then governments can do it too. The fact of the matter is that the will to do it isn't there. And I'd bet you dollars to doughnuts that the reason the 'will' isn't there could be traced back to money and profit!

Yes, I'm sure they must be angry. Very angry! It seems to me, though, that the Americans are much like the British in one regard: They would prefer to swallow it all than make a BIG fuss.

We should not allow our politicians to get away with all this. We really shouldn't.
