Pupils protest as college linked to Iran puts fundamentalist text on curriculum, reports our correspondent
MUSLIM students training to be imams at a British college with strong Iranian links have complained that they are being taught fundamentalist doctrines which describe non-Muslims as “filth”.
The Times has obtained extracts from medieval texts taught to the students in which unbelievers are likened to pigs and dogs. The texts are taught at the Hawza Ilmiyya of London, a religious school, which has a sister institution, the Islamic College for Advanced Studies (ICAS), which offers a degree validated by Middlesex University.
The students, who have asked to remain anonymous, study their religious courses alongside the university-backed BA in Islamic studies. This is funny. While they are just doing what they have always done, they are serving a very valuable purpose: waking up the West. No, the wake up call has just gone out, but the West is not yet awake. Still, preaching to the choir may reinforce the beliefs of the choir, but it is still just the choir. Take hope. Just heard on the news that Brixton prison in South London has installed new toilet blocks to accommodate Muslim prisoners who were offended by having to face toward Mecca while using the old toilets. Now that's what I call taxpayer money well spent.
IMO, the faceless government monsters who authorize this sort of thing should be held accountable and forced to justify their decisions in public and also to personally contribute with their own money to this madness of their making.
Mind you, I'm sure Tony and Cherie are most pleased.

To build special toilets for Muslims in prison is an outrage! Let them 'do their thing' facing Makkah! Who cares? They shouldn't be in prison in the first place. If they hadn't transgressed, they would be inside.
I wonder what Allah would be more displeased by? With their transgressions, or with their facing Makkah while on the throne?
It's this sort of thing which is fuelling the growth in popularity of the British National Party (BNP). Not surprising, is it? And nor should we be surprised if we discover that they go on making gains, either. These sorts of actions will fan the flames of extreme positions.

The £1.6 Million Mosque … At Hook's Jail": ("Hook" refers to Abu Hamza Al-Masri, the behooked Islamist leader charged with 16 offences, including soliciting to murder and inciting racial hatred.) The warden at Belmarsh Prison, Europe's highest security jail, plans to spend £1.6million to build a mosque on the prison grounds for Abu Hamza and other suspected al-Qaeda terrorists. Naturally, these object to praying the "multi-denominational" chapel available to them, where Christian crosses are present. The warden is showing due solicitude and the mosque plans sound splendid: 150 feet squared, it will be have a dome and minaret.
The Prison Officers Association assailed this decision:
we don't believe that spending a huge amount of money at this time is in the best interests of prisoners or staff. At a time when prison overcrowding is running wild, contagious diseases are massively on the increase and we have financial problems in prisons, to identify the £1.6million for a mosque for a single denomination is clearly wrong. What would serve prisoners better would be to expand existing areas to ensure that they can be used by all denominations. This is clearly a waste of money.
A Belmarsh prison officer added off the rcord:
This is an absolute disgrace. How on Earth can the authorities justify spending £1.6million? The money should be used for something else worthwhile - not so these people can pray in such luxury. Nobody else is having a new building built for them, we don't have a synagogue, for example. This is political correctness gone mad just because they have kicked up a stink. This isn't a makeshift building, it's a full-on mosque. Staff are totally disheartened at pandering again to the prisoners.
