The meaning of God's word must be interpreted "for this time" as well as "for all time", Prince Charles has said in a speech to an Islamic university.Mark
He became the first westerner to address the Imam Muhammad bin Saud University, in Saudi Arabia, which has worked to counter radicalisation.
Last week, in a speech to Egyptian scholars he talked about the row over cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad.
It showed the danger "of our failure to listen" to others' views, he said.
The prince and the Duchess of Cornwall are in Riyadh as part of a two-week tour of the Middle East.
In his speech at the university, the prince spoke about the importance of interpreting religious texts. Read the article here: Prince's call over 'God's word'

No end to this fool's dhimmitude!
Always:
No end to this fool's dhimmitude!
There certainly isn't. He puts his foot in his mouth each and every time he speaks about Islam.
Bld:
Poor ol Charles. He really thinks that they will listen to him.
He's deluded! A Muslim will not be swayed by the words of an infidel! And an infidel he is, despite being a prince at home.
Muslims only use him, because they see in him a person, albeit an infidel, one who is able and willing to fight their corner for them in the infidel West.
Is there likely to be a popular uprising of apostate thought around Islamworld, anytime soon?
Certainly not!
I had this coversation just last night about whether there may be a straying away from islam by "westernised" moslims.
Impossible. Until you have studied the structure a bit, and taken the trouble to try to understand what is really the basis of islam then you cannot surmise and speculate.
Liberals think up, nay dream up, all kinds of weird and wonderful scenarios. They, too, are deluding themselves!
They are habits of "free thinkers" and rationalists.
Yes, and there is nothing free-thinking or rational about a committed Muslim.
Of course a few "bad-seed" drift away from islam and do crime and are shunned by their families.
That doesn't mean they are apostate. They can soon be drawn back in to the fold. And they will be when the time is right.
How right you are! I have witnessed this phenomenon myself with my very own eyes. The young in Saudi, for instance, go off to the US or come here to the UK to study, and they partake of all the joys of infideldom (except, perhaps, eating pork) when they are away from home; then they return only to revert to type very soon afterwards. Then the beard is grown long, the moustache is clipped in the style of Prophet Muhammad (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, salallahu aleyi wa salam), and then their lives start to be complete.
Very Concerned:
Thank you for your excellent comment. It sums up the stupidity of the Prince of Wales in a few short paragraphs.
One thing is certain: I never want that buffoon to reign over me! I just wish he'd go to one of his luxurious palaces and talk to his plants and grow organic vegetables!
You see, VC, how can a man like that have a true understanding of Islam? When he visits Islamic countries, he only mixes with royalty, or the rich rulers. He has no understanding at all of what ordinary Muslims do or think. I mean: Drinking Arabic coffee in the company of the King of Saudi Arabia is hardly the same as taking a taxi ride in downtown Riyadh, is it? Yet he professes to speak for Muslims.
I often ask myself what the Queen - a devout Christian herself - thinks of her son's pronouncements on Islam. I also ask myself why she can't use her power to shut him up! But she seems to be powerless to do anything about him.
I dread to think of what it might be like if he really does become king!
