Outspoken Islamic cleric Abu Hamza has branded Australians as boozers who are hooked on gambling and prostitution.

In another sermon broadcast over the Internet, the Melbourne cleric urged followers to spread the word of Islam to save Australians, the Herald Sun reports.

"They think happiness can be achieved by being intoxicated, by going to the casino and blowing your money away, by going from one prostitute to the other," he said.

"They don't know what life is all about, that's why they are on the booze, why they are binge drinking ... why unfortunately suicide has skyrocketed, murder, anxiety and depression."

If Abu Hamza was served rum ice cream (presumably rum and raisin ice cream) in Belmarsh prison, then he should count his lucky stars. I thought that Belmarsh was a high security prison, not a holiday camp. We are treating these people with kid gloves. We should take them off!

Bread and water with an occasional bowl of porridge would be more suitable food for such an inmate. Then he would have no cause for concern about it being haram. Even Muslims can consume bread and porridge, and they can also drink water. - ©Mark

Hook-Handed Muslim Fanatic Loses US Extradition Appeal

THE TELEGRAPH: Radical Muslim cleric Abu Hamza lost his High Court battle today against extradition to the United States where he faces a potential jail sentence of 100 years.

The decision means the hook-handed fanatic can be sent across the Atlantic to face terror charges and is likely to spend the rest of his natural life locked up for 23 hours a day in a "super-maximum" security jail in Colorado.

Two High Court judges sitting in London ruled that the decision to extradite Hamza was "unassailable" but they also gave his lawyers 14 days to apply for leave to make a last ditch appeal to the House of Lords, the highest court in the land.

’Hooks-R-Us’ Preacher of Hate Launches Yet Another Appeal Over US Extradition
DAILY EXPRESS: Islamist preacher Abu Hamza has lodged an appeal against his extradition to the United States.

A Home Office spokeswoman said that the appeal will now be considered by Home Secretary Jacqui Smith but could not say when a decision will be made.



Ms Smith signed papers paving the way for Hamza, 49, to face terror charges in the US on February 7.



There was a 14-day deadline, which was due to end on Wednesday, for Hamza's legal team to mount an appeal.



Hamza, who has served two years of a seven-year sentence for soliciting murder and inciting racial hatred, is wanted in the US to face charges that include providing support to al Qaida and involvement in a hostage-taking conspiracy.

THE GUARDIAN: A judge ruled today that the jailed radical Islamic cleric Abu Hamza can be extradited to the US, where he could face terror charges.

The senior district judge Timothy Workman gave his ruling at City of Westminster magistrates court in London today.

Hamza now faces being handed over to US authorities, where he could be tried for 11 charges including involvement in a hostage-taking conspiracy in Yemen in 1998.

Four of the hostages, three Britons and an Australian, were killed when Yemeni troops stormed the militants' hideout.

Hook-Handed ‘Preacher’ Faces Bankruptcy
DAILY EXPRESS: JAILED Muslim fanatic Abu Hamza was facing bankruptcy last night after losing a battle to pass a £1million legal bill to the taxpayer.

The Legal Services Commission, given powers by the High Court to recover assets to the value of his bill, said it would first seize his £250,000 home.

Hamza, 48, was granted legal aid, to defend himself against charges of race hate and incitement to murder, at the Old Bailey last year. He was convicted of six counts and jailed for seven years.

But in January a judge ruled that the hook-handed preacher must meet the costs of defending himself after it emerged that he provided “false information” to the court – and that far from being penniless, he owned valuable property in London.

Yesterday the Legal Services Commission got the green light to recover assets from the firebrand cleric to the value of his £1,088,944.97 legal bill. Hamza Ordered to Pay Back £1m Legal Aid (more)
