Michael Lambert: AI Is About to Change Everything You Know!

Nov 22, 2025 | AI is about to reshape our world faster than any technology in human history. Not just in terms of convenience or efficiency — but in terms of jobs, power, government, national identity and the basic meaning of human life.

In this video I explain why AI is not “just another tech trend”, but a genuine economic and social tsunami. We already see banks, councils, law firms, call centres, the media, accountants and logistics companies quietly replacing human thinking with AI systems. The pace is accelerating — and politicians are asleep.

What happens when 40–50% of people are no longer economically useful? What happens when machines take over the thinking, the planning, the decision-making — not in 50 years, but within the next decade? How does society function when human intelligence is no longer the most valuable commodity?

This is the most important video I’ve made because we are entering a future for which our institutions, our politics and our culture are completely unprepared.

Saudi Arabia Backs Elon Musk’s xAI With Data Center Deal

THE NEW YORK TIMES: Mr. Musk’s xAI will work with the Saudi artificial intelligence company Humain on a new data center, part of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s effort to diversify his kingdom’s economy.

Elon Musk has been hunting for partners to grow his artificial intelligence start-up xAI as it tries to keep pace with OpenAI, Anthropic and Google.

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia has been trying to diversify his oil-rich kingdom’s economy by making it a global hub for tech and artificial intelligence.

On Wednesday, their intersecting interests led to a deal.

Mr. Musk’s xAI, which makes the Grok chatbot, agreed to work with the state-backed Saudi company Humain to build a new data center in the Persian Gulf kingdom. The project is set to consume as much as 500 megawatts of electricity, which would make it xAI’s biggest data center outside the United States. Humain and xAI did not disclose the value of the deal.

The project was part of a package of military and tech deals announced on Wednesday during Prince Mohammed’s visit to Washington. The United States and Saudi Arabia appear to have reached an agreement that clears the path for the kingdom to buy the U.S. semiconductors needed to power artificial intelligence, as the United States has used A.I. chips as part of geopolitical diplomacy. » | Adam Satariano and Paul Mozur | Wednesday, November 19, 2025

Bank of England Warns of Growing Risk that AI Bubble Could Burst

THE GUARDIAN: Possibility of ‘sharp market correction has increased’, says Bank’s financial policy committee

The Bank of England has warned there is a growing risk of a “sudden correction” in global markets as it raised concerns about soaring valuations of leading AI tech companies.

Policymakers said there were also threats of a “sharp repricing of US dollar assets” if the Federal Reserve lost credibility in the eyes of global investors. It comes as Donald Trump’s continues to attack the US central bank and threaten its independence.

Continued hype and optimism about the potential for AI technology has led to a rise in valuations in recent months, with companies such as OpenAI now worth $500bn (£372bn), compared with $157bn last October. Another firm, Anthropic, has almost trebled its valuation, going from $60bn in March to $170bn last month.

However, the Bank of England’s financial policy committee (FPC) warned on Wednesday: “The risk of a sharp market correction has increased. » | Kalyeena Makortoff | Banking correspondent | Wednesday, October 8, 2025

Deadly Escalation: Trump Hits 2nd Venezuelan Boat in Military Strike without Due Process

Sep 16, 2025 | Tensions between the United States and Venezuela are rapidly intensifying. Just hours after Caracas condemned a U.S. strike that killed 11 people, President Trump announced a second attack on a Venezuelan boat, killing three more. Washington calls the dead “narcoterrorists,” while Venezuela denounces the strikes as “heinous crimes.” With two lethal encounters in just days, fears are mounting that these clashes could spiral into a wider regional conflict — or even outright war.

Michael Lambert: The World Is in Chaos but There May Be an Answer

Aug 16, 2025 | The world seems to be in chaos. In the US, the UK, Europe and many other countries’ economies are under pressure, societies are fracturing, and trust in politics is at rock bottom.

In the USA, Donald Trump is causing chaos over his tariffs and other policies whilst in the UK, Brexit has destined the economy to seemingly endless decline.

There is a cost of living crisis in many other countries but China, which has experienced an economic miracle over the past forty years, seems to faring better than most and set to overtake the US as the strongest economy in the world.

Climate change continues to be one of the great problems facing humanity whilst both Trump and the Reform UK claim it is either a hoax or and exaggerated threat.

The steady movement of wealth to a very small number of very rich people also threatens the prosperity of the world.

However, there may be a solution in AI or artificial intelligence. This will transform most businesses and will rapidly spread to all commercial and government activities. It will be resisted but will prevail. AI will manage affairs more efficiently and without corruption. In time it will replace politicians.

Elton John: I Would Take Government to Court over AI Plans | BBC News

May 18, 2025 | Sir Elton John described the government as "absolute losers" and said he feels "incredibly betrayed" over plans to exempt technology firms from copyright laws.

Speaking exclusively to Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg, he said if ministers go ahead with plans to allow AI firms to use artists' content without paying, they would be "committing theft, thievery on a high scale".

This week the government rejected proposals from the House of Lords to force AI companies to disclose what material they were using to develop their programmes.

A government spokesperson said that "no changes" to copyright laws would be "considered unless we are completely satisfied they work for creators".

Some of Italy’s best-known business leaders, including the fashion designer Giorgio Armani and the Prada chair, Patrizio Bertelli, have been targeted by an artificial intelligence-based scam that involved the mimicking of the defence minister’s voice in telephone calls claiming to seek help to free Italian journalists kidnapped in the Middle East.

Prosecutors in Milan have received four legal complaints, including from Massimo Moratti, the former owner of Inter Milan, and a member of the Beretta family, the world’s oldest producer of firearms. The defence minister, Guido Crosetto, on Monday said he would submit a legal complaint after his voice was cloned and used in at least one of the calls. » | Angela Giuffrida in Rome | Monday, February 10, 2025

Jan 31, 2025 | The breakout success of Chinese DeepSeek has shaken the US’s position as a global leader in artificial intelligence. But although it might seem like a two-horse race between the US and China, the EU was the first region in the world to have created a legal framework for AI and is starting to massively invest in supercomputing and innovation. As the European Commission said, “The race for AI is far from over.”

AI Could Cause ‘Catastrophic’ Financial Crisis, Says Yuval Noah Harari

GUARDIAN AUSTRALIA: Historian and Sapiens author says sophistication of technology makes it difficult to forecast its dangers

Harari said an AI-created financial crisis would not destroy civilisation – ‘at least not directly’.Photograph: Antonio Olmos

Artificial intelligence could cause a financial crisis with “catastrophic” consequences, according to the historian and author Yuval Noah Harari, who says the technology’s sophistication makes forecasting its dangers difficult.

Harari told the Guardian a concern about safety testing AI models was foreseeing all the problems that a powerful system could cause. Unlike with nuclear weapons, there was not one “big, dangerous scenario” that everyone understood, he said.

“With AI, what you’re talking about is a very large number of dangerous scenarios, each of them having a relatively small probability that taken together … constitutes an existential threat to the survival of human civilisation.” » | Dan Milmo, Global technology editor | Friday, November 10, 2023

Labour Accuses Rishi Sunak of Angling for Job after Elon Musk Interview

GUARDIAN EUROPE: Shadow minister says PM may have had one eye on his future career as he and tech billionaire talked AI on stage

Labour has accused Rishi Sunak of using his interview with Elon Musk to position himself for a job after Downing Street, after criticism that the prime minister allowed the billionaire to overshadow his AI safety summit.

Sunak rushed from Bletchley Park to central London after the summit to interview Musk on stage in an event that critics said made the prime minister look weak in the face of corporate power.

During the event, Musk predicted that AI would eventually take everybody’s jobs, that people faced a threat from “humanoid robots” and that one of the biggest upsides from the technology would be that people would be able to make AI friends.

His comments have since dominated the news agenda, overtaking an agreement signed by the world’s biggest AI companies that could lead to a slowdown in the race to develop systems that can compete with humans.

Peter Kyle, the shadow technology secretary, said on Friday: “The AI summit was an opportunity for the UK to lead the global debate on how we regulate this powerful new technology for good. Instead, the prime minister has been left behind by the US and EU who are moving ahead with real safeguards on the technology.

“Unfortunately, Rishi Sunak again allowed himself to be distracted from the serious issues at hand, perhaps with one eye on his future career.” » | Kiran Stacey, Political correspondent | Friday, November 3, 2023
