Donald Trump Backs Ice Hockey Legend Wayne Gretzky Against PM Trudeau

Dec 29, 2024 | US President-elect Donald Trump took another potshot at Canadian PM Justin Trudeau. Trump suggested Wayne Gretzky should run for Prime Minister’s office. Gretzky is celebrated as the greatest ice hockey player of all time, with unparalleled records for the highest goals, assists, and total points. Trump called the legendary hockey player a natural leader and said that he could easily win a national election. Trump again said the Prime Minister of Canada would soon become the governor. The remarks followed Trump’s joke about Canada becoming the 51st US state. The statement also came amid political turmoil in Canada. Justin Trudeau’s liberal party could face a no-confidence vote in January after its key ally the New Democratic Party broke the alliance. If the government collapses, Canada may head to the polls soon.
