I know, you know, we all know that the Earth orbits the Sun, but this statement of fact wasn’t always so widely accepted. Four centuries ago, it was so controversial that the Catholic Church considered it a heresy. Now, fast forward to the 21st century debate around extraterrestrials and you’ll see something similar – those who hypothesize their existence are treated as apostates. Why so?
