Blair: The Would-Be President!
Cartoon courtesy of Google Images
Tony Blair, mere Prime Minister, needs the trappings of President! He cannot stem the growth of Islam in the United Kingdom, but that doesn't matter! He can luxuriate in his Blair Force One instead! One suspects that, like certain African heads of state, Tony Blair feels truly at ease these days only when he leans back in his upholstered seat and feels the jet engines propel him away from his own country, towards other lands where he is not responsible for the state of the streets and can luxuriate in the dignity of a world leader.
How galling, then, to have to travel in a rented plane, or, worse, on a scheduled service. How embarrassing to step on to the tarmac, to be greeted with all the courtesies of diplomatic protocol, from a jumbo jet bearing a commercial logo. How unlike the dignity of the American President!
Blair should check in like the rest of us

In actuality there is quite little Blair can do to stem the growth of Radical Islam. The problem is that the entire implied social contract with immigration has been tossed to the side. Immigrants were supposed to find gainful employment and be law abiding.
Enforcing the hate speech laws in the UK would land more commie types in jail then Islamic radicals. The problem may boil down to the unique aspects of Islam
that make it unlike other religions and more akin to Communism.
Were there actual anti muslim riots by Caribs in Liverpool? That sounds like a rumor.

Nothing he could do! Of course he could have done something. To start with he could have fixed the illegal immigrant problem, so many of whom are Muslims. Further, he could refuse to play footsie with the Muslim community in Britain, and he could have told them - in no uncertain terms - that they must play by the rules of the game here.

Yes, and it shouldn't have been. Prime ministers have no right to toss such things to the side. They are supposed to be democratic. In a democracy, such major changes of policy should be thrown to the people for them to vote on them.

You're probably right on this. But it's rather depressing.
Where I don't agree with you is that you say nothing can be done about it. If that truly is the case, then the West as we know it is done for.
And I might as well go tend to the flowers in my garden.

I have heard nothing about these. I think that must be a rumour.
Mussolini:
Mark. You can buy a muslim prayer rug to kneel on when you're gardening.
Dual purpose purchase.
:-) :-) :-)
What a good idea! Why didn't I think of that?
You know how I feel about the battle. Islam is winning, as it must before the end.
Really? If you feel "it must", then we might as well give up the battle here and now!
Gosh! You're all so depressing today! Is there something in the air, I wonder? :-(
Maybe Blain cannot "stem the growth of Radical Islam," but he could speak out clearly as to what the Koran and the Hadith teach.
Muslim immigration is going to bring down the West. Blair has done nothing to curb the hordes, has he?
Mark,
I know that what Beak has said is discouraging. But I won't throw in the towel.
Islam minus Allah = Communism
Or so I was told by a fellow from India. Beak has a point about the hate-speech laws.
Mussolini,
I'm thinking about getting a Muslim prayer rug on which to place my pig lawn-ornament.
Bld:
In these dark, dark days, you're SUCH a tonic! Ha, ha, ha! He, he, he! :-) :-) :-)
If you could only hear how I am chuckling to myself!
Your words are always so, so refreshing!
Mark
There are greater questions that need to be asnswered. Hindus do quite well and raise no concerns. There are some problems with the Caribs but those issues involve organized crime. Caribs may seek to make an illegal buck but there is no sentiment hostile to the dominant culture.
Is Islam compatible with Westen liberty? The answer is probably not
as Sharia is based on tribute for tolerance. This sounds like extortion but some see it as their divine right. Western democracy is based upon individual rights inate to all of us as human beings. The notion of paying tribute for peace is antithetical to liberty.
