Holocaust denial a crime: Ahmadinejad, take note!

David Irving, the revisionist historian, pleaded guilty today to criminal charges of denying the Holocaust and conceded that he had been mistaken when he claimed that there were no gas chambers at Auschwitz. Read the whole article here: Irving pleads guilty and backtracks on Holocaust denial

Doesn't it beggar belief that anyone, still less an educated person, could deny a historical fact?

Latest from the BBC: Holocaust denier Irving is jailed

From The Times: Backlash at jailing of historian who denied Holocaust

Sorry? I doubt that, says brother

Tell me, will the UN jail Ahmadinejad for his ludicrous denial of the Holocaust?

I am not in favor of jailing Irving. I am connited to free speech which in some areas of the UK means anything except Zionism. There is something obtuse about commies objecting to anyone's right to speech.

However rational people do not follow Marx. How many fake Jenin massacres add up to 100,000,000

I'm torn on this one simply because so, so many innocent people suffered so very much, and because we have a growing problem with Holocaust-denial in the Muslim community. We simply cannot allow this denial, which is a blatant lie, to take root. It is so, so dangerous.

Otherwise, I can understand your concern that free speech is being eroded. But remember: Holocaust denial is not a crime in the UK and the US, as far as I know, only in countries such as Germany, Austria and France, which were, of course, directly affected by the atrocities of the Nazis. And in countries like Switzerland. In short, in central European nations.

It could be a made a Europe-wide law, of course. You know how bill-happy the Eurocrats are.
