THE DAILY TELEGRAPH: The Queen pulled out of an official engagement today for only the third time in five years because of ill health.
Buckingham Palace said the Queen is suffering from a cold and the decision was taken because part of the event at the British Museum, at which she had been due to be shown an exhibition about Australia, was outdoors.
The Queen sets off on a two-week tour of Australia next week and decided not to take any risks with her health. She is still expected to carry on with a reception tonight for 350 Australians living and working in Britain.
Royal aides stressed that the decision to miss the British Museum engagement was merely a precaution, but is rare for the Queen to cancel official visits. » | Gordon Rayner, Chief Reporter | Thursday, October 13, 2011
