BBC: Katharine Jefferts Schori has taken office as the first female leader anywhere in the Anglican denomination.

Bishop Jefferts Schori, 52, became the presiding bishop and primate of the US Episcopal Church at an investiture service in Washington DC.

She was selected in June to lead the 2.3m-strong Church after narrowly winning a vote.

The choice has proven controversial as most other Anglican Churches around the world do not allow women to be bishops. Woman bishop takes over Church

This causes me great sadness as I understand that this action is a harbinger of the end of the Church I have loved so much for the last four decades. Schism will be the inevitable result of this action. While Ms.Schori is likely an honarable woman, she is so far over the left edge that it is difficult to recognize exactly what religion she is associated with?? Certainly, it is not easily recognized as Christianity, but one has to admit that it may be so.

I can understand why you feel so sad about this, USIP. As you say, schism will be the inevitable result of this action. It seems that she's making up Christianity as she goes along!

Mark, Yes, that says it well. In fact, the US Episcopal Church is barely recognizable as a Christian church; it looks more and more like a Marxist social engineering society every day. The magnificent 'pearls' embodied in this church for centuries are being trashed with impunity by the apostles of political correctness. Alas they will be gone forever.

USIP:

Isn't all this rubbish coming from the East and West coasts?

Instead of trying to change Scripture, why don't they just leave the Church?

Mark, Because the SP activists are USING the Church to further their own social causes... When the activists are close enough to their goals, they will desert in droves. In the meantime, they will not support the Church, rather they will expect us poor wretches in the pews to pay for their activism but guess what, it won't work Unfortunately, in the process a wonderful manifestation of Christ's Church will be destroyed. Naturally, they don't care as this is all about them and not at all about the Gospel or about the Church of Jesus Christ, certainly not about those who have loved
this Church for generations. The bishops are at fault as they have allowed, yes even enabled, an infestation of far-left activists into the ministry and now they think they have to support those who they have allowed in to the sacred priesthood.
