Spain's cries for help fall on deaf ears
BBC: EU ministers have expressed sharp differences over how to deal with an influx of illegal immigrants to Europe.

At talks in Finland, Spain's justice minister called for help to deal with the surge of mainly African migrants arriving in Spain's Canary Islands.

But Germany's interior minister said Madrid should not be calling for other people's money. EU nations clash over immigration

Turn them around.
This is "Future Shock" in action.

A little too cryptic for me, Anonymous.

I presume you mean send them back home. If so, I agree. Europe can't take in all the world and his uncle.

I was referring to a book I read many years back.
Alvin Tofler, I think.
I seem to remember he predicted even bigger waves of migrants coming from the Sahara region, and speculated about the impact on Europe.

You know, I reckon that even if several hundred thousand jumped on boats and headed our way, the present Euro governments would still sit on their hands, and pretend it didn't matter.

I wonder if the New Labourites will admit that the coming privatisation of swathes of the N.H.S., (which they villified Maggie Thatcher for suggesting, way back then) and which they pretend to be "modernisation" (thankyou Ministry of Truth, R.I.P., George Orwell,) I wonder if they will admit that much of the motivation for this is in fact the rampant immigration that has swamped us and the Health Service with new and often sick customers.
How can they explain that to the old British folks that payed into the NHS Insurance scheme for years and end up having to sell their houses to provide for old age?
We cannot provide for all the Worlds poor, we cannot give jobs to everyone who washes up in Europe, it just has to stop somewhere before the bough breaks, and the cradle of the NHS falls.

Thanks for this clarification. I appreciate it.

Oh, I agree with you. They would still do nothing. We are being ruled by the incompetent!

They won't admit that. If we didn't have all these immigrants, it stands to reason that there would be more resources for the indigenous population, for the real British. The National Health Service has turned into the International Health Service. And that it was NEVER intended to be.

How can they explain that to the old British folks that payed into the NHS Insurance scheme for years and end up having to sell their houses to provide for old age?

That's a difficult one. And it's so unfair, too. This NuLabour government has cocked up so much that one loses count.

We cannot provide for all the Worlds poor, we cannot give jobs to everyone who washes up in Europe, it just has to stop somewhere before the bough breaks, and the cradle of the NHS falls.

No, we cannot. But they all "wash up" here; and the soft British and Europeans haven't the guts to turn them away. It's an OUTRAGE!
