In a recent column for JewishWorldReview, Daniel Pipes describes what he sees as a new, tougher, approach by the Vatican to the encroachment of Islam throughout the West, and the decline of Christian populations in Islamic states.Mark Alexander
In his closing paragraph, Pipes tells us, “Obtaining the same rights for Christians in Islamdom that Muslims enjoy in Christendom has become the key to the Vatican’s diplomacy toward Muslims. This balanced, serious approach marks a profound improvement in understanding that could have implications well beyond the Church… Should Western states also promote the principle of reciprocity the results should indeed be interesting.” The Vatican Confronts Islam by Paul R. It is so uplifting that the Roman Church is finally taking a tough stand in these matters. The clergy in my own Anglican Church are weak, ignorant and cowardly. Thank goodness some Christians "get it" and are taking a stand for the Faith!
The Anglican Church has become a joke!
I quote the last paragraph of the full article:
If the Vatican really thinks that they can find “reciprocity” with such men they are engaging in some very dangerous wishful thinking.
Maybe. But it is an encouraging sign that the Vatican is raising this issue. It may yet bear fruit from a lower branch of the tree of enlightenment.
It is an interesting thought that the coming years may see a strong alliance between the Vatican and Israel and, thereto, the enlightened population of the West. The Christian church has not had an entirely stainless record vis-a-vis the Jews over the centuries. Time to right this wrong.
The anglican church is populated by old women of both sexes, sandal-wearers, juice-drinkers and dedicated interfaithers.
Good thing they like juice, because the possible future will be entirely wine- (and joy-) free.
Rockmother:
The Vatican will never be able to find reciprocity coming from Muslims. They can forget that. Islam is out to win this war. They will not make concessions. In any case, reciprocity implies an equality. Muslims think they are superior. Therefore, Christians will continue to be killed or maimed, and churches will continue to be destroyed, and Christians, suppressed.
Throughout Islam's 1400-year history, Christians were offered three options: death, conversion, or dhimmitude. The latter option, as we know, means that the Christian is a second-class citizen, having to pay a poll tax, the jizyah, to their Muslim overlords.
But as you say, it is good that the Vatican is going to try and do something about this. At least it means that they are aware that there is something rotten in the way this matter is handled by Muslims.
The Anglican Church has lost all sense of direction, all sense of its own purpose.
It won't be long now before they will have to serve Ribena for communion wine!
