"Not an abomination"

The gay US bishop at the centre of controversy over his consecration has told a convention of US Anglicans he is "not an abomination".
Gene Robinson said the Episcopal Church should "stand up for right", adding that Anglicans should not be swayed by fear of deepening rifts over the issue.
The Ohio convention is to vote on how far to go in seeking to prevent the ordination of more openly gay bishops.
A senior conservative said it would be impossible to prevent a split.
"We've reached a moment where it is very difficult, indeed I think we've reached an impossible moment, in holding it together," Bishop Robert Duncan of Pittsburgh said, quoted by the Associated Press. Gay bishop 'not an abomination'

I agree with you. This is a spectacularly unsuitable time to be debating such things in the Church, with Islam breathing down the Church's neck. Such folly!

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Romans 3, Verse 23
So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, 'He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her'.
John 8, Verse 7
I wish that the Church would focus on things that matter most. Why are 'churchy' people dealing with all these secondary things? Why are they not dealing with persecution of Christians by Muslims? Why are they not confronting the attack on Christianity by Islam in places around the world? This surely has to be a classical case of 'fiddling while Rome burns.' Unfortunately, in this case the clergy are being preoccupied with lesser concerns while the Christian Church is a target of destruction. Oh, for some strong leadership in the Church... Unfortunately, we have only pathetic weaklings. Hopefully, God will rescue his Church before it is too late.
