Some welcome tough talk coming from the heart of Europe for a change!
Angela Merkel, on her first visit to the Middle East since she became Chancellor, has said that it would not be possible for Europe to fund the Palestinian government if it didn't recognize Israel. "Such a Palestinian Authority cannot be directly supported by money from the EU," she said. Further, according to the NZZ, Hamas would have to renounce violence. Moreover, she added that Germany would never be able to come to terms with Hamas' denial of the Holocaust.

Mark,
Have you seen this bit of information about Norway?
AOW, things are getting freakin scary. Hamas elected who deny the holocaust want to destroy Israel; Iran wanting to go nuclear with its belligerent leaders making threats; Denmark and Norway capitulating to angry Muslims; Recent French riots; 60% of British Muslims say they want to live under Sharia law. What's next?
Mark, it was a survey of British Muslims. I can't say for sure where I read it but the fact you don't know about it means I'll do some further investigation to make sure it's accurate information. Get back to you. Lee
Mark, here's a link to the Syndey Morning Herald article I read it in.

Thanks for that link. It's very interesting, if more than a little disturbing, of course.

I have not heard of this particular survey, unfortunately. However, I must say that it doesn't surprise me one little bit. On the contrary, it would surprise me if the result had been the other way.
I have been saying for a long time - in private about twenty years actually - that this sort of thing is bound to happen. Twenty years ago, nobody wanted to listen. They were ignorant of Islam and the implications of its growth in the West; and, further, they found the idea of anyone wanting anything different from our liberal democracy frankly unbelievable!
Fortunately, some people are beginning to wake up to this harsh reality now. But in my opinion still far too few take the interest they should in this most important matter; and even when they do take an interest and are disturbed by it all, they seem to be unwilling to contemplate the kind of measures that will have to taken to safeguard our own freedoms.
Unfortunately, as you know, to solve this very thorny probem, there are no easy answers or solutions. Only Draconian measures will do!
Ignoring the problem will only make it worse. Like any cancer, it has to be excised to effect a permanent cure. If the cancer is left too long, even excision is ineffective!
