Srdja Trifkovic is the foreign-affairs editor of Chronicles: A Magazine of American Culture and director of The Rockford Institute's Center for International Affairs. He has written an excellent and insightful article on the proposed Racial and Religious Hatred Bill in the United Kingdom. All who are concerned for their freedom of speech, and their continued liberty in the country should read what he has to say...
The House of Lords is clashing with Tony Blair’s Labour government over its proposed Racial and Religious Hatred Bill. This is an Orwellian piece of legislation. Its real purpose of preventing any meaningful discussion of Islam. If passed it would enable authorities to charge people with “inciting religious hatred” even if they speak or write the truth about the Kuran, the hadith, the historical practice of jihad, or the long-term aspirations of the Muslim diaspora in the West.Read the rest of this great article HERE
*Dhimmitude is the status that Islamic law, the Sharia, mandates for non-Muslims, primarily Jews and Christians. Dhimmis, "protected people," are free to practice their religion in a Sharia regime, but are made subject to a number of humiliating regulations designed to enforce the Qur'an's command that they "feel themselves subdued" (Sura 9:29). This denial of equality of rights and dignity remains part of the Sharia, and, as such, are part of the law that global jihadists are laboring to impose everywhere, ultimately on the entire human race.
The dhimmi attitude of chastened subservience has entered into Western academic study of Islam, and from there into journalism, textbooks, and the popular discourse. One must not point out the depredations of jihad and dhimmitude; to do so would offend the multiculturalist ethos that prevails everywhere today.(Souce: DhimmiWatch)

These are indeed very troubling times! I have never experienced or read in history books anything like this, i.e. the government siding with the enemy.
Your quote from Mussolini is an interesting one, and a very accurate one to boot.
What on earth is wrong with our politicians and leaders? It's as if we had a death wish!
This war is being fought on too many fronts for my liking: first and foremost, we have the enemy - Islam; then we have to fight the battle with political correctness; then we have the problem with the concept of multiculturalism - these immigrants should have been made to assimilate into our culture, or told to leave; and even more than all of this, we have ignorance in the populace, and even apathy. All people seem to want is to be left alone to earn money and do their thing.
In addition to all this, we have governments placing the people in shackles by passing inane legislation to protect the enemy.
The whole thing is absurd.
We are all running scared. At every turn, free speech is under attack. Among other examples: The Australian State of Victoria jailed two Christian ministers for stating a case against Islam while using evidence gleaned from the Koran. Canadian Chrisitans are afraid to voice their opinion about homosexuality.
Truth Is On Trial. It appears that we are finding outselves in an Orwelliannightmare.
The unimaginable is happening. Who would have thought that such a degredation of rights and principles could come to pass in the cradle of free speech, Great Britain, and in the United States, the land where free speech is enshrined as a beacon to the world!

Why have Americans allowed this to happen?
