Prince Charles the new roving ambassador for Islam!
It has been reported in The Telegraph this morning that Prince Charles is to fly to the States on Tuesday for an eight-day tour. Its purpose: To try and sell Islam to George W Bush and the American people! He wishes to persuade the President and all Americans of the merits of the faith.
Apparently, Charles believes that the actions of the nineteen hijackers on 9/11 should not tarnish the reputation of hundreds of millions of law-abiding Muslims around the world.
Really, Charles! What have ya bin smokin'?
Charles is a meddlesome prince. He has been sniffing around for many a year for a meaningful rôle in the world. He is into and frequently expresses his often controversial opinions on organic farming, architecture, alternative medicine, and Islam. In fact, he has a particularly soft spot for Islam. But it is precisely his views on Islam which are particularly dangerous to the continued existence of the West in its current form. Someone should shut him up!
He is edging dangerously close to engaging in politics with this one. We can tolerate his outbursts on organic farming and alternative medicine and even architecture; indeed, his remarks are often laughable. They seem often to be the rusings of an ageing and slightly eccentric man who has no meaning in his life! But when he starts spouting forth on Islam, the alarm bells should start ringing!
As a prince of the House of Windsor, he must surely have plenty of time to read about Islam - the real Islam. He should start today! There are good books aplenty on the dangers that Islam poses the Western world. My own, The Dawning of a New Dark Agewould be a good place to start. Then read the Qur'anand inwardly digest it, and Al Hadith, or the sayings of the Prophet Muhammad, and Robert Spencer's excellent books, his latest being The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam, and then read The Arab Mindby Raphael Patai, and Trifkovic's book, The Sword of the Prophet. This would be a good start! And if his German is up to it, which I believe it should be, as his family has German roots, then he should read Die islamische Herausforderungby Gerhard Konzelmann. This book should open his eyes, as it did mine twenty or so years ago. It's a classic. Not forgetting, of course, Bat Ye'or's The Decline of Eastern Christianity under Islam: From Jihad to Dhimmitude and Eurabia. Indeed, these are must reads for him. They will all help to remove the stars in his eyes. He needs to be taught how to see clearly. His starry-eyed vision of Islam is as inaccurate as it is dangerous.
We really cannot afford to have Charles roving around the world as an ambassador for Islam, disseminating disinformation about this dangerous faith! The continued existence of the West depends on his being gagged!

This story is all over the blogs today, from England to Australia to all portions of the United States. Will he be able to persuade GWB that Islam is innocuous? I've never thought of the prince as a great intellectual. He should stick to his gardening and his polo ponies!
He is into and frequently expresses his often controversial opinions on organic farming, architecture, alternative medicine, and Islam. In fact, he has a particularly soft spot for Islam.
Dates back to 1994, when he wanted the title "defender of the faithS"
How much credibility does he have in the UK?
AlwayOnWatch:
Among thinking people, very little credibility! He is no intellectual, that's for sure! I think he is probably well-intentioned; but as we all know: the road to hell is paved with those!
He should shut up; and if he can't, then the Queen should shut him up, once and for all!
I suggest that the American people go and boo him at the airport! Show him that he is not welcome with his stupid ideas!
I read with great interest that Prince Charles is coming to the US on Tuesday. A stated purpose of his visit is to attempt to convince President Bush and the American people of the merits of Islam.
I can’t imagine why the Prince is doing this? I am puzzled for several reasons.
First, the prince is to become “Defender of the Faith” when he ascends to the throne --- assuming he does --- as well as become titular head of the Church of England. In light of this, why is he acting as a missionary for Islam; I don’t recall that he has gone off to other countries to promote the merits of Christianity. Further, it is generally known that Islam considers Christians to be second-class citizens and Jews to be vermin (witness the statement of the president of Iran just last week). Why would the next head of the Church of England be acting as a missionary for a faith that is openly so hostile to Judaism and Christianity?
Second, I find it strange that the Prince would take such extraordinary steps to convince anyone of the merits of a “religion” that does not allow tolerance of any other faith, that subjugates and humiliates women; that prescribes barbaric penalties such as beheading and cutting off of limbs for certain crimes and stoning of the woman (not the man) caught in adultery; that preaches hatred of Jews to the point of advocating the extermination of them; that has no use for the arts, including music and literature; that believes heaven to be a carnal paradise where the murderers of infidels, especially Jews and Christians, are rewarded with unbridled sexual pleasures provided by “72 virgins” and gaggles of pretty young boys as well as with an endless supply of alcoholic drinks forbidden Muslims in this life; that advocates the death penalty for any Muslim that converts to any other religion; and that provides a religious “justification” for so-called “honor killings” and killing of those of other religions. This list is only illustrative and not exhaustive. In light of all of these and all others not named here, why in the world would Charles be an advocate for such a “religion” as this?
Third, were Charles and Camilla to be Muslims, Shariah law prescribes that Camilla would be stoned to death for having an affair with Charles; under the same law he probably would get away with it because he is a man and it is clear from the Quran that a a woman’s worth is only one-half that of a man’s worth.
In light of all of this, I have to ask a second time: Why is he doing this??? On the surface, it would seem that the Prince is trying to do the impossible. After all, how can one defend the tenets of Islam in the context of a civilized society that is deeply committed to protecting and advancing human rights? In this regard, I find it amusing that the only people I hear loudly defending Islam are non-Muslim westerners, especially politicians who are pandering to Muslims for their votes. (This is especially true of Tony Blair who is trying to distance himself from his involvement in the Iraqi war and who is , without a doubt, panderer extraordinaire.) Indeed, who has heard an Imam say recently that Islam is a religion of “love and peace;” much less to say the “true” Islam --- whatever that is --- has been hijacked by radicals??????? If anyone has heard or read such a statement by a Muslim cleric, the real meaning of which is not obscured by double talk, please pass it along to me.
Surely, Prince Charles is not as stupid and naïve as all of this makes him appear to be. Were that to be true, however, he should never become king, as he would be manifestly unworthy to be such because he would already have undermined the fundamental integrity of the monarchy by his bizarre and irrational behavior. Further, it would be an open insult to the Church of England and the Christian Faith for him to become head of the Church of England as he is “hard at work” defending a religion, which is openly asserts that Christianity is not a “real” religion at all and that it has no right to exist (I am happy to supply citations should you desire them….) and further, that Islam “should be the only religion on earth.”
I cannot help but ask for a third time: Why is the Prince doing this??? To be honest, I don’t have a clue…. As kids nowadays say, “go figure……”
Mark,
I worry that, with all the good pr the prince has been receiving since his televised wedding last summer, the American people like him now. Many Americans felt sorry for his having to wait so long to marry the woman whom he apparently has truly loved for decades. Americans are gullible when it comes to a story with a fairy-tale ending, which is how his long-postponed marriage to Camilla has been presented.
For some reason, Americans seem to be fascinated with the doings of the Royal Family. This fascination strengthened back when Charles married Diana. Thousands of American women, to this day, wear duplicates of the wedding rings which Diana had. I hope that the President is not so susceptible.
I don't doubt that Charles has good intentions, and I'm guessing that he's trying to be more political as preparation for taking the throne upon QE's death. I wonder how much the media here will cover this latest pr for Islam. I'll let you know what I observe--if anything.
Oh, and you're right....Prince Charles should shut up! He's no authority on Islam, I'm sure.
Always On Watch:
I can well imagine that many Americans like him now, after all the positive PR he and Camilla have been having. I think that Americans love a good royal happy-ever-after fairy story anyway, as many, many people are inclined to do everywhere. Royalty seems to hold a particular fascination for Americans, probably because they don't have a royal family themselves.
This side of the Pond, opinions differ: There are those that will never forgive him for what he did to Diana; then there are those ready and willing to move on, and they have.
Where do I stand? There is a part of me in both camps. On the one hand, I think he treated Diana very badly, but I also think that Diana made her mistakes, too. They should never have married in the first place, since they were most unsuited to each other: She was into glamour and beauty and pop culture; he, into horses and huntin', shootin' and fishin', and all things alternative besides. Unfortunately, I think it is true to say that she was used to give birth to heirs. She was a very beautiful virgin from an aristocratic family. In this regard, she fitted the bill. Good virgins haven't been so easy to find in recent years, so they snapped her up for Charlie. But the marriage, they say, was blighted from the start, since even on their honeymoon, I believe the problem with Camilla reared its ugly head.
The trouble is that people generally have short memories; and they are always ready to forgive. We saw this in the US after 9/11. How many Americans converted to Islam after that catastrophe? That was also incredible.
Like you, I fear that many of the less well-informed Americans will listen intently to what he has to say about Islam. People who are better informed won't; but how many of those are there?
There are people walking the streets in this country who know absolutely nothing about the Crusades and the history of conflict and rivalry between the two civilizations. These are the gullible ones.
As for Charles' knowledge of Islam: However much he knows, it is so obviously skewed. How can he have a realistic view on it, unless he pushes himself to inform himself well, as he lives in an elegant cocoon, with his each and every need and demand catered for. Hardly a real lifestyle. Moreover, when he meets Muslims on trips abroad, he is treated by them extremely well, and in any case, he meets only the rich royalty and oil shiekhs in places like the Middle East. He hardly meets the downtrodden or the poor. So he doesn't know how they live or how they think. Or how fanatical they are. Most of the rich Muslims he meets have been educated here in the West, so they won't be very representative of the real Islam. Couple this with the fact that Charles is an out-and-out idealist, and we can see where he's coming from.
I have no particular axe to grind with him other than I think he should stay out of politics and keep his mouth firmly shut when it comes to Islam. As Islam doesn't recognize a separation of the spiritual and the political, it is disastrous for him to pontificate about it. He should never utter things about Islam as he does, because when he ascends the throne, he is supposed to become Defender of the Faith, the Faith, of course, being Christianity. But he has already stated - due to his love of Islam - that he wants to be Defender of Faith (in general). This is truly a disaster waiting to happen! In any case, who, among the Muslim community, would really wish for him to be their defender? He is, like you and I, an infidel in their eyes. (Unless the rumours across the Web are true - rumours that he has already secretly reverted to this religion!) No Muslim wants an infidel as its titular head.
What is astonishing is that he doesn't find it necessary to give Christianity, the religion of which he is supposed to become the Defender, a fillip. God knows it could do with one! Churches this side of the Atlantic are empty! Not so the mosques.
After all is said and done, Islam is a very strong faith which certainly doesn't need this man to support it. In actual fact, as we know only too well, it is too strong already: It needs to be cut down to size here in the West. Muslims here are already boxing above their weight.
I do hope that the President won't be taken in by the mumbo-jumbo Charles will say about Islam. We're in enough trouble with this religion already.
"He should shut up; and if he can't, then the Queen should shut him up, once and for all!"
Agree with that! As an American I have no respect for the Prince, I don't know anyone that does. It seems he has an appalling lack of understanding of world events. I don't think he is going to convince anyone that Islam is a religion of peace. Anyone who reads the daily newspaper knows otherwise. The question is, why doesn't he?
Yes, I agree, Nordic_Smile: He seems to have no understanding of world events. As you stated: Why doesn't he read the newspapers? Even a cursory glance at them these days will give one a clear understanding of what's going on with Islam.
Do you give any credence to what they say about his having already reverted? I don't know what to think. But it would explain his love affair with it.
What I have never been able to understand is this: Why hasn't the Queen ever managed to shut him up, especially on such sensitive issues as this?
Yes, Bill, I used to like him many, many years ago, too. That was until he started fouling things up! He comes over to me now as rather a pathetic figure. But he's dangerous when he goes on about the merits of Islam. He's even more dangerous when he flies to your country to try and convince the President of its merits!
I do hope that the President will be smarter than that; but I've got my doubts. As you say, he's a politically correct animal!
How worrying!
Peggy: This is what I fear! There are already many stories circulating on the Web to this effect. Is the saying, there's no smoke without fire pertinent, perhaps?
Mark,
Thank you for your long comment. You have provided excellent insights from your side of The Pond.
Too few seem to recognize the truth of the following, which you said: Islam doesn't recognize a separation of the spiritual and the political.
Churches this side of the Atlantic are empty! Not so the mosques.
Astounding! I was totally unaware of this.
Is Charles a Muslim, as in a secret Muslim? The thought had crossed my mind, but all reason told me such a horrible thing was impossible. Now I'm not so sure. And even if he's merely an advocate, he can do a lot of harm. If Charles is the first Muslim monarch of England, Eurabia has completely arrived. (Everyone aware as to what's going on in Paris right now?)
GWB isn't much impressed with celebrities, but he can put on a politically-correct-animal face. But I also worry about two more matters. (1) Will what Charles has to say cause another delay in dealing with the threat against all Western civilization? (2) Has GWB done any real research about Islam?
According to an ad I just saw on TV, The O'Reilly Factor is tonight running a segment entitled "A Royal Scolding" about the upcoming visit from Charles and his new pontificating on Islam. I'll be watching that portion of the broadcast in just a moment.
Is Charles a Muslim, as in a secret Muslim? The thought had crossed my mind, but all reason told me such a horrible thing was impossible.
Yes, the thought had crossed my mind, too. The very idea is somehow incomprehensible and unbelievable. Yet, apparently, the Palace was forced into an official denial! That should tell us something! They always deny that a baby is on the way, and then it arrives!
As it would be difficult for him to be an official Muslim, maybe he's opted for being an unoffical one! You know, secretly and in his heart and all that. That's it! Perhaps he has taken Muhammad into his heart! There is a certain whackiness to him; so nothing would surprise me.
What, I wonder, would happen to his wife if they lived in the Islamic world?
Passing along what I heard...Last night's segment on O'Reilly, which I mentioned in my last comment, had some sort of spokesperson saying that Prince Charles has done a lot of research on Islam so, therefore, is qualified to speak on the subject of the post-9/11 misunderstanding of Muslims on the part of the U.S. The spokesperson stressed that Charles would not be pushy but rather tell what he has to say in an informal setting, as in a private meeting with Bush. Apparently, the stress of Charles's official meetings with Bush will be global warming.
Another article about Prince Charles:
http://washingtontimes.com/
world/20051030-115534-6734r.htm
Extremism is no more the monopoly of Islam than it is the monopoly of other religions, including Christianity.
Really, Your Highness? Which planet do you live on?
This is so blatantly false that it's risible!
From where I'm sitting, Prince Charles is another example of a do-gooder! This sort of talk will get us nowhere! If he really loves Islam so much, and if he really has such good relations with Muslims, then he ought to go to the Muslim community and convince them to give up their megalomaniacal ambitions of taking over the word, and establishing theocracy where it is not wanted!
I have no time for this kind of ridiculous talk. The man clearly needs to get a grip!
