Wildfire Forces Closure of France's Marseille Airport

Jul 9, 2025 | Wildfires in France’s second-biggest city, Marseille, have forced the closure of the city's airport until further notice. Firefighters are 'waging war' on wildfire, says the city's mayor. Hundreds of firefighters are battling to contain the blaze, which is spreading rapidly due to winds of up to 112 miles per hour. Meanwhile, Spain is also tackling fires fuelled by a lethal combination of high winds and ongoing extreme temperatures. Paul Hawkins has more.
