Lee Rigby Case: Muslim Fanatic Said He Killed Soldier In 'Most Humane Way He Could'

Drummer Lee Rigby
THE DAILY TELEGRAPH: Michael Adebolajo tells the court Mr Rigby died because he was simply the first soldier they spotted and it was as if “Allah had chosen him”

An Islamist fanatic admitted trying to decapitate Drummer Lee Rigby because “the most humane way to kill any creature is to cut the jugular”, a jury has heard.

Michael Adebolajo, 28, told police he was not sure “how I struck the first blow” but added “I struck at the neck and attempted to remove the head”.

He also revealed 25-year-old Mr Rigby died because he was simply the first soldier they spotted and it was as if “Allah had chosen him”.

The admissions came during a fourth interview with police ten days after Fusilier Rigby was allegedly run over with a car and then hacked to death close to his Woolwich barracks in south east London. » | Tom Whitehead, Security Editor | Thursday, December 05, 2013

EDL Leader Robinson Arrested Amid Tribute Bid

Police detain English Defence League leaders who were banned from marching to where Drummer Lee Rigby was killed.

SKY NEWS: Two English Defence League leaders have been arrested in London as they attempted to march to Woolwich, where Drummer Lee Rigby was killed in May.

Tommy Robinson shouted, "You are enforcing Sharia law", at officers who held him on suspicion of obstructing police as he tried to enter the London borough of Tower Hamlets.

The EDL had previously announced plans to walk through part of the capital before gathering outside Woolwich Barracks, near where Drummer Rigby was hacked to death in broad daylight.

But the Metropolitan Police put conditions on the march which demanded that it ended at Old Palace Yard, opposite the House of Lords.

As well as planning to lay flowers in memory of Drummer Rigby, Mr Robinson and EDL co-leader Kevin Carroll, who was also arrested, were walking to raise money for a young girl fighting cancer.

Sky Correspondent Tom Parmenter said: "They'd walked six miles when they were arrested outside Aldgate East underground station.

"Police had been tracking the walk across London and had regularly spoken to them about their route.

"The EDL leaders had been warned not to go past a large mosque in east London or enter the borough of Tower Hamlets.

"As they approached the boundary of the borough they were warned again by officers who told them they may be arrested."

Mr Robinson and Mr Carroll repeatedly asked if they would actually be arrested before another man approached the pair and assaulted Mr Carroll.

Parmenter said: "As police officers tried to deal with the situation the EDL leaders continued to walk forward and then a senior policewoman placed the pair under arrest." (+ video) » | SkyNews | Saturday, June 29, 2013

Woolwich Message: UK Faces Grim Legacy of 'Peacekeeping'

The growing threat of terrorism is appearing at the top of the agenda of the UK government, as the intelligence agencies and armed forces come out as winners in the spending review. It comes just over a month since the brutal machete murder of a British soldier in London, which the killers said was revenge for the UK's military campaigns, but there are mounting doubts over whether the war on terror is actually making Brits safe. The UK intelligence agencies will be getting 100 million pounds annually from 2015. The Treasury Head George Osborne said it's because they are 'on the frontline' and need a boost to their resources. George Galloway joins RT to talk about it.

US Bloggers Banned from Entering UK

BBC: Two prominent US bloggers have been banned from entering the UK, the Home Office has said.

Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer co-founded anti-Muslim group Stop Islamization of America.

They were due to speak at an English Defence League march in Woolwich, where Drummer Lee Rigby was killed.

A government spokesman said individuals whose presence "is not conducive to the public good" could be excluded by the home secretary.

He added: "We condemn all those whose behaviours and views run counter to our shared values and will not stand for extremism in any form."

'Right decision'

Ms Geller, of the Atlas Shrugs blog, and Mr Spencer, of Jihad Watch, are also co-founders of the American Freedom Defense Initiative, best known for a pro-Israel "Defeat Jihad" poster campaign on the New York subway.

On both of their blogs the pair called their bans from entering the UK "a striking blow against freedom" and said the "the nation that gave the world the Magna Carta is dead".

They were due to attend a march planned by the far-right EDL to mark Armed Forces Day on 29 June, ending in Woolwich, south east London, where soldier Drummer Rigby was murdered last month.

Keith Vaz, chairman of the Home Affairs Select Committee, who had called for the bloggers to be banned from the UK, said: "I welcome the home secretary's ban on Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer from entering the country. This is the right decision. The UK should never become a stage for inflammatory speakers who promote hate."

EDL leader Tommy Robinson, meanwhile, criticised the decision and said Ms Geller and Mr Spencer were coming to the UK to lay flowers at the place where Drummer Rigby died.

"It's embarrassing for this so-called land of democracy and freedom of speech," he said.

"How many hate preachers are living in this country? It just shows what sort of a two-tier system we have here." » | Wednesday, June 26, 2013

Paul Weston on the Woolwich Killing, Islam and the State of Modern Britain

Paul Weston, Chairman of new political party Liberty GB, speaks out about the Woolwich murder, Islam and the state of Britain today.

Liberty GB is here to protect the traditional British way of life, which has been ignored by the so-called 'Conservative' Party. We are a culturist, traditionalist and patriotic party that will talk truthfully about immigration and Islam. We are not career politicians, and we don't respond to whips - we'll always stand up for facts, and we'll always stand against hatred and intolerance.

Britain Capitulates to Jihad

JIHAD WATCH: In a striking blow against freedom, the British government has banned us from entering the country. Muhammad al-Arifi, who has advocated Jew-hatred, wife-beating, and jihad violence, entered the U.K. recently with no difficulty. In not allowing us into the country solely because of our true and accurate statements about Islam, the British government is behaving like a de facto Islamic state. The nation that gave the world the Magna Carta is dead. Leave a comment » | Robert | Wednesday, June 26, 2013

My comment:

I'm sorry to learn that my country has banned your entry into my country. I cannot imagine what the government is thinking about. This is further proof, if indeed further proof is needed, that the United Kingdom is a spent force. It's finished! The Islamisation of the UK from here on in is nothing but a foregone conclusion. The politicians that are elected and paid to lead us are spineless wimps who are incapable of anything other than capitulation. The 'Great' has just been taken out of Great Britain. – © Mark

EDL Rally: Theresa May Considers Banning US Bloggers from UK

BBC: Home Secretary Theresa May is considering banning two US bloggers from entering the UK to speak at an English Defence League rally.

Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer are due to join an EDL march in Woolwich, where Drummer Lee Rigby was killed.

The pair are prominent "anti-Islamisation" campaigners in the US.

Home affairs committee chairman Keith Vaz claims their presence will fuel hatred and is calling for them to be denied visas.

Mr Vaz said: "I am alarmed that the EDL is planning this type of march in Woolwich. It is clear that the location, motivation and attendees at this march will incite hatred.

"Adding incendiary speakers such as Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer just fuels the fire.

"Before we have to pay the costs for the extra policing required for this demonstration, the Home Secretary should consider using her discretion to ban these two speakers from entering the country.

"A ban should be enforced properly and physically stop people entering our borders."

'Extremists'

The Home Office said it did not routinely comment on individual cases but the home secretary was aware of Mr Vaz's letter and would be responding in due course.

Mrs May has the power to exclude non-British citizens from the UK if she considers their presence to be "not conducive to the public good" but she must act in a "reasonable, proportionate and consistent" way. » | Friday, June 21, 2013

Outrage as EDL Invites 'Incendiary' Right-wing American Speakers to Woolwich March

EXPRESS: THE English Defence League has invited two far-right, anti-Islam activists from America to a party rally in Woolwich, where Drummer Lee Rigby was brutally murdered.

Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer, two high-profile bloggers who founded the 'Stop The Islamization of America' campaign, were invited to speak at the march by the EDL.

The pair are infamously known for their anti-Islam subway posters in New York which read, "In any war between the civilized man and the savage, support the civilized man. Support Israel. Defeat Jihad."

Fears have now been raised over the two "incendiary" right-wing American speakers coming to the UK.

My comment:

Has it ever occurred to the powers-that-be that we wouldn't need all these people in counter-jihad activities if our governments in the West were doing their jobs properly? People feel threatened by the growth of Islam and the activities of the Jihadists. They see that their governments are doing nothing about these phenomena, so they are taking matters into their own hands. One sure-fire way of putting an end to all this would be for our governments to grow backbones, stand up the obvious dangers that lie ahead of us, stop pandering to the people who would bring about an abrupt end to our way of life, and make the people feel safe again. It's really that simple. But there is one proviso: we need politicians with courage; and that is precisely what we do not have. – © Mark

Why Charles Moore Is Wrong About British Muslims

THE DAILY TELEGRAPH: British Muslims were outraged by the Woolwich attack – but it is being used to slur our entire community, writes Sadiq Khan.

Much has been written in the past month in the aftermath of the brutal murder of Drummer Lee Rigby. One unifying message has been the importance of communities standing together, in the face of the threats posed by those claiming to follow a particularly violent political version of Islam, and from far-right groups such as the EDL and BNP. One recent contribution to the debate came from the esteemed journalist Charles Moore, whose recent biography of Margaret Thatcher is a mighty tome of diligence and detail. In contrast, his words in last Saturday’s Telegraph were a clumsy foray into a territory about which he appears to know very little.

Some of his claims in his piece are so wide of the mark they warrant specific rebuttal. Take his claim that “the only serious violence was against a British soldier” – try telling that to those from across the community in Muswell Hill on finding that the Al-Rahma Islamic Centre had been burnt to the ground, or to the 182 staff and pupils evacuated from the Darul Uloom School in Chiselhurst, traumatised by an arson attack in the middle of the night.

In his piece, Moore states that “the EDL is merely reactive” as if that’s OK. It’s far from OK. Many of the darkest chapters in recent human history have sprung from reactionary movements gaining a foothold in society. But to go on and equate the EDL with groups like Tell Mama, the charity that records incidents against the Muslim community as well as providing advice and support on how to deal with Islamophobia, as Charles Moore's piece does, is ridiculous. I don’t recall seeing those running Tell Mama flicking fascist salutes while standing next to memorials for the war dead.

Charles Moore fears that those criticising Islamist organisations for being pro-violence will be rounded on. On the contrary, not only is there no place in British society for such extremist positions, but there is no place in my religion, the religion that I share with 2.7 million others across the UK. It is incumbent on us all to root out the bad apples, and not shy away from tackling head on the very small numbers who preach hatred and violence. » | Sadiq Khan, MP | Thursday, June 20, 2013

My comment:

This article is a whitewash of Islam. For starters, were the Muslim community to have been truly outraged by the beheading of Lee Rigby, they'd have come out into the streets showing us their rage. After all, they're pretty good at showing rage when they want to do so, witness the rage that ensued upon the publication of the cartoons of the prophet Muhammad.

Further, you say that Islam is not incompatible with "Britishness." I beg to differ. It is hardly British to keep one's women in purdah; nor is it British for women to be covered from head-to-toe. To be British is to respect democracy and freedom. Islam fails on both counts: it respects neither democracy nor freedom. And as a British politician and Muslim, you should be very aware of where the problems lie. For democracy to flourish, there has to be a strict separation of Church and state. In the case of Islam, that would have to be mosque and state. But Islam respects no such separation. Indeed, Islam boasts that the political and the spiritual in Islam are one indivisible, coherent whole. I think you should read my essay on the subject here.

Where there is no separation of the religious and the political, there is no true democracy. I really would have thought you'd have understood that, being a British politician as you are.

You also say that Islam is "British" because it is about respect, tolerance, and understanding. You know that Islam is neither respectful nor tolerant nor understanding. How much respect do Muslims show for homosexuals, for example? Or people of other faiths?

I'm sorry to say, Mr. Khan, but your article is full of flaws. It is neither true nor believable. – © Mark

This comment should be available to read here also; but the moderators have taken it down. It appears that The Daily Telegraph is no longer the newspaper which stands up for the truth, or for the indigenous population of the United Kingdom. They prefer to silence us, and give Muslims a voice instead. I find this policy to be reprehensible, especially because it makes newspapers like the Telegraph enablers.

'Grown Men Look Like They Want to Hit Me': Tony Blair's Muslim Convert Sister-in-law Lauren Booth Speaks of Her Fear in Wake of Lee Rigby Killing

MAIL ONLINE: Lauren Booth said she has felt 'scared' in public after the Lee Rigby killing / She said she wasn't treated differently when she first went out in traditional Islamic dress - but it has changed in the wake of the Woolwich killing / Half-sister of Cherie Blair converted to Islam two years ago / Miss Booth attacks Tony Blair for saying there is a 'problem within Islam'

Tony Blair's Muslim convert sister-in-law Lauren Booth said today she is scared of being attacked by men on public transport following the murder of Drummer Lee Rigby.

Miss Booth said that after the soldier was brutally hacked to death in Woolwich she has seen 'grown men looking like they want to hit Muslim women' when she is travelling in London.

The 45-year-old half-sister of Cherie Blair ventures out in traditional Islamic dress and wears a hijab head-covering.

She converted to Islam two years ago and married Sohale Ahmed, 49, in a Muslim ceremony earlier this year.

Miss Booth, wearing a patterned hijab, said on ITV's Daybreak this morning that when she converted two years ago she was not treated any differently.

But in the aftermath of the murder of Lee Rigby close to Woolwich Barracks in south-east London last month she said that has changed.

'When I came to Islam two years ago and I first put on the scarf I was nervous about going on the Underground, I thought everyone is going to see me differently, and everyone was beautiful towards me,' she said.

'I was invisible for a few weeks and then I noticed that British people were smiling, same as we always do, we're really good at that, we're really good at absorbing and accepting people.

'But honestly, in the last two weeks I've been getting public transport and there are grown men looking like they want to hit Muslim women, and I'm a tall, white woman, I'm not easily threatened, but I have felt scared at times, so there is a change unfortunately.' » | Rob Cooper | Wednesday, June 19, 2013

Woolwich Outrage: We Are Too Weak to Face Up to the Extremism in Our Midst

THE DAILY TELEGRAPH: Despite the murder of Drummer Lee Rigby, David Cameron has failed to act against Islamist terrorism

It is less than a month since Drummer Lee Rigby was murdered in Woolwich, yet already the incident feels half-forgotten. In terms of the legal process, all is well. Two men have been charged. There will be a trial. No doubt justice will be done. But I have a sense that the horror felt at the crime is slipping away.

The media, notably the BBC, quickly changed the subject. After a day or two focusing on the crime itself, the reports switched to anxiety about the “Islamophobic backlash”. According to Tell Mamma, an organisation paid large sums by the Government to monitor anti-Muslim acts, “the horrendous events in Woolwich brought it [Islamophobia] to the fore”. Tell Mamma spoke of a “cycle of violence” against Muslims.

Yet the only serious violence was against a British soldier, who was dead. In The Sunday Telegraph, Andrew Gilligan brilliantly exposed the Tell Mamma statistics – most of them referred merely to nasty remarks on the web rather than actual attacks, many were not verified, no reported attack had required medical attention, and so on. Yet the “backlash” argument has sailed on, with people shaking their heads gravely about the need to “reassure” Muslims. Tell Mamma equates “hate inspired by al-Qaeda” with the “thuggery and hate of the EDL [the English Defence League]”. » | Charles Moore | Friday, June 14, 2013

Islam’s ‘Rule of Numbers’ Explains London Beheading

THE ALGEMEINER: Last week in London, two Muslim men shouting jihad’s ancient war-cry, “Allahu Akbar” beheaded a British soldier with a cleaver—in a busy intersection and in broad daylight. They boasted in front of passersby and asked to be videotaped.

As surreal as this event may seem, Islamic beheadings are not uncommon in the West, including the U.S. In 2011, a Pakistani-American who helped develop “Bridges TV”—a station “designed to counter negative stereotypes of Muslims”—beheaded his wife. In Germany in 2012, another Muslim man beheaded his wife in front of their six children—again while hollering“Allahu Akbar.” Beheading non-Muslim “infidels” in the Islamic world is especially commonplace: in Yemen a “sorceress” was beheaded by the “Supporters of Sharia”; in Indonesia, three Christian girls on their way to school were beheaded; in Syria last Christmas, U.S.-supported rebels beheaded a Christian man and fed his body to the dogs; in Africa—Somalia, Tanzania, Mali—Christians are regularly decapitated. (For a comprehensive picture of Christian suffering under Islam, see my new book, Crucified Again: Exposing Islam’s New War on Christians.)

Most recently, a disturbing video [WARNING: This video is EXTREMELY GRAPHIC and SHOCKING! It is certainly NOT SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN.] surfaced from “liberated” Libya of a machete-wielding masked man hacking at the head of a captive—again, to cries of “Allahu Akbar!”

But the greater lesson of the London beheading concerns its audacity—done in broad daylight with the attackers boasting in front of cameras, as often happens in the Islamic world. It reflects what I call “Islam’s Rule of Numbers,” a rule that expresses itself with remarkable consistency: The more Muslims grow in numbers, the more Islamic phenomena intrinsic to the Muslim world—in this case, brazen violence against “infidels”—appear.

In the U.S., where Muslims are less than 1% of the population, London-style attacks are uncommon. Islamic assertiveness is limited to political activism dedicated to portraying Islam as a “religion of peace,” and sporadic, but clandestine, acts of terror. In Europe, where Muslims make for much larger minorities, open violence is common. But because they are still a vulnerable minority, Islamic violence is always placed in the context of “grievances,” a word that pacifies Westerners.

With an approximate 10% Muslim population, London’s butcherers acted brazenly, yes, but they still invoked grievances. Standing with bloodied hands, the murderer declared: “We swear by almighty Allah we will never stop fighting you until you leave us alone…. The only reason we have done this is because Muslims are dying by British soldiers every day.”

Days later in Stockholm, which also has a large Muslim minority, masked rioters destroyed 100 cars and property. The grievance for this particular outbreak was that police earlier shot a(nother) machete-wielding “immigrant” in self-defense. » | Raymond Ibrahim * | Monday, June 03, 2013

Woolwich Attack: Michael Adebolajo Charged with Murder

THE DAILY TELEGRAPH: A second man has been charged with the murder of drummer Lee Rigby in Woolwich.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said Michael Adebolajo, 28, of Romford, Essex, would appear before magistrates accused of murdering the 25 year-old soldier in Woolwich last month, and with the attempted murder of two police officers.

Adebolajo has been remanded in custody and will appear before Westminster magistrates' court on Monday.

Another man, Michael Adebowale, 22, from Greenwich, south-east London, was charged with murder and possession of a firearm last week. » | David Barrett, Home Affairs Correspondent | Saturday, June 01, 2013

Hope Not Hate Letter to Mirror Condemning Far-right Extremists Signed by 33,000 People

DAILY MIRROR: The letter to the Daily Mirror condemns far-right groups using soldier Lee Rigby’s shocking murder for their own agenda

Ed Miliband joined celebrities and more than 33,000 people yesterday in signing a letter to the Daily Mirror condemning far-right groups using Lee Rigby’s death for their own agenda.

The Labour leader joined stars, union bosses and leaders of all faiths in blasting the English Defence League as it planned 90 demonstrations this weekend.

In the letter they said: “We know that the EDL does not speak for all of Britain, just as we know that Muslim ¬extremists do not speak for all Muslims.”

Mr ¬Miliband added: “Today’s Hope Not Hate letter to the Mirror from 33,000 people shows people who spread hatred will fail.”

Anti-racism campaign Hope Not Hate, supported by the Mirror, was behind the message.

Comedian Eddie Izzard urged people to sign the letter and within hours thousands had backed it as the campaign went viral on Twitter.

Among other celebrities to give their support were singers Speech Debelle, Beverley Knight, Billy Bragg and Blue’s Lee Ryan and Duncan James.

Apprentice winner Stella English also got on board and said: “My mum lives moments from where the murder happened so this means a lot to me. I applaud what the Mirror is doing.”

TUC chief Frances O’Grady was among the union bosses to add their names to the letter.

She said: "The fact the EDL is looking to make political capital out of the tragic murder of Lee Rigby shows just how far this organisation is prepared to go to stir up conflict and division.” Letter to the ‘Daily Mirror’ » | Alun Palmer | Saturday, June 01, 2013
