UK Considering Recognising Palestine State, Lord Cameron Says | BBC News

Jan 30, 2024 | Britain is ready to bring forward the moment when it formally recognises a Palestinian state, the foreign secretary has suggested. Lord Cameron said Palestinians had to be given a political horizon to encourage peace in the Middle East. He is beginning his fourth visit to the region since being appointed foreign secretary in November. The UK has a responsibility to set out what a Palestinian state would look like, he told a Westminster reception.

‘Gays for Palestine’: Sky News (Australia) Host Slams ‘Dimwitted’ Protesters

Oct 26, 2023 | In the days following the atrocities inflicted on Israel by Hamas, the progressive left mobilised their seasoned army of protesters across the globe, waved their flags and held their signs in support of Palestine. Students, academics and minority groups stood in solidarity with Islamists in what Sky News All Stars called suicidally stupid. Some view this support as compassionate and empathetic, whilst Sky News All Stars Rita Panahi, Sharri Markson and Douglas Murray see it as dimwitted, mocking the hypocrisy of the left.

Hossein Amir-Abdollahian on Iran’s involvement in the Israel-Palestine conflict | NPR

Oct 31, 2023 | Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian sat down with NPR’s Steve Inskeep to discuss how Israel’s intensifying military campaign in Gaza is raising the specter of a broader regional war involving Iran-allied groups.

"If this situation continues, and women and children and civilians are still killed in Gaza and the West Bank, anything will be possible," Abdollahian said.

The U.S. State Department says Iran has long provided weapons and support for Hamas. Ali Barakeh, a senior Hamas official based in Beirut has said that Iran provided "help and support" for its Oct. 7 attack on southern Israel where Israeli authorities say the group killed more than 1,400 people and took some 220 hostages.

Iran's warning comes as Israeli military operations have killed more than 7,000 Palestinians, according to health officials in the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip, and displaced more than a million others. Israel has acknowledged civilian casualties but contends its aim is to rid the territory of Hamas fighters.

Palestine 1920: The Other Side of the Palestinian Story | Al Jazeera World Documentary

Feb 22, 2022 | “A land without a people, and a people without a land” is how the relationship between Palestine and the Jewish people was described by Christian writers in the 1800s. And the 20th-century history of the Middle East has largely been written through these eyes.

But this film from Al Jazeera Arabic looks at Palestine from a different angle. It hears from historians and witness accounts, and features archive documents that show Palestine as a thriving province of Greater Syria and the Ottoman Empire at the dawn of the 20th century.

The evidence suggests that its cities had a developing trade and commercial sector, growing infrastructure, and embryonic culture that would enable it to meet the challenges of the decades ahead.

However, the political ramifications of the Balfour Declaration, San Remo Conference and British Mandate set in motion a series of events that profoundly affected this vibrant, fledgeling society and led to the events of 1948 and beyond. This film is the other side of the Palestinian story.

Piers Morgan vs Mohammed Hijab on Palestine and Israel-Hamas War | The Full Debate

Oct 16, 2023 | Piers Morgan Uncensored is joined by YouTuber and pro-Palestinian Mohammed Hijab for a lively debate on the historic conflict between Israel and Palestine and whether the terrorist attacks committed by Hamas warrant the level of response by Israel and whether the IDF should be labelled as 'terrorists' too for the mass killing of civilians during the bombing of Gaza.

Mohammed makes the point that it is impossible to defend Israel's actions as 'defending themselves' when they are the occupiers of Palestinian territory. Mohammed also adds that 'flattening out' Gaza with carpet bombing is an irrational response to try and get rid of Hamas fighters when he believes they have the capabilities to go into Gaza and surgically remove and target them.

Inside Story: Will Donald Trump Cut All Aid to Palestine and Pakistan?

Palestinian leaders say they will not be blackmailed after US President Donald Trump threatened to cut aid worth around three quarters of a billion dollars a year.

He made the statement on Twitter, blaming Palestinians for refusing to engage in Middle East peace talks. The PA responded saying the US should not blame Palestinians for 'its own failures'.

Relations with the US have plummeted since Trump recognised Jerusalem as Israel's capital last month. The aid cut threatens money allocated to the Palestinian Authority. But most US funding goes to development and building projects - and not directly to the Authority itself.

The US is also withholding millions in financial assistance to the Pakistani government. Saying Islamabad has given the US 'nothing but lies and deceit' over the years - accusing the country of being a 'safe heaven for terrorists'. So, what's behind Trump's threats and what will it mean for US policy in the region?
