Changing EU Treaty ‘Not Taboo’ for France Anymore – Macron after Meeting Merkel

The European Union’s need for deep reforms is so dire that even the idea of changing the EU treaty is “not taboo,” new French President Emmanuel Macron said at a joint news conference with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin on Monday.

Yes! The Irish Said NO!

DUTCH CONCERNS: The Irish have voted NO to the Lisbon Treaty, aka the Lisbon Treason. The pro-EU camp is devastated, certain as they were that their Goebbels-like propaganda would have ensured a yes majority. Dutch television reported disappointedly that 'this is a black day for Europe. The treaty that intended to make the EU more democratic has been rejected by the Irish'.

How's that: more democratic? The treaty was aimed at shifting more power from the nation states to the unelected leaders of Eurabia. The EU was already preparing the abolishion of the WOB, the law that forces politicians to provide insight in their governemental procedures and decisions, whenever requested.

Balkenende, the Dutch PM that boasted that he had made the Treaty acceptable to the Dutch by removing the flag and the song, and ensuring there would be no EU President, already announced that he will ignore the Irish NO and go ahead as planned. Interestingly, Dutch television also reported that preparations for selecting (mind you, not electing) the EU president (say what?) would now be delayed. It also claimed that the EU should not be stopped by only one country being against it. Yes! The Irish Said No! >>> By R Hartman

Brown, the Man Who Refuses to Give the People a Referendum on the EU Treaty, Tells Us What He Thinks, Tells Us What He Thinks, Tells Us What He Thinks…

BBC: EU leaders are beginning talks in Lisbon to try to agree on a landmark treaty to reform the 27-member bloc.

The treaty is designed to replace the European Constitution that was rejected by French and Dutch voters in 2005.

It includes plans for an EU foreign policy supremo, a longer-term president and fewer national veto rights. EU leaders hold key treaty talks (more)

EU Treaty “Substantially Equivalent” to EU Constitution

BBC: The EU treaty is "substantially equivalent" to the EU Constitution thrown out by Dutch and French voters in 2005, MPs have said.

The European scrutiny committee said it should be "made clear" the UK can keep opt-outs of parts of the document.

The Conservatives said the government was now "morally bound" to hold a referendum on the treaty, as had been promised on the Constitution.

But ministers say the two documents are "substantially" different.

The treaty incorporates some of the old EU Constitution, on which Labour had promised a referendum before it was scuppered by the Dutch and French votes.

The Conservatives argue it is as much as 90% the same. EU treaty 'same as Constitution' (more)
